UBUNTU WORSHIP Quite a day is planned! During an UBUNTU service, we will dedicate the $1,000 in donations for the Nicaragua Biodigesters. UBUNTU is a South African reference meaning; "I am because you are". Not only are we connected to each other in the Body but it is that connection and relationship which brings meaning to our existene. During worship, we will Skype with Tim Donaghy, one of our missionaries in Managua.

From the Pastor's Desk
When was the last time you spent your Friday night worshipping Jesus? You will have that opportunity a week from today at Zion. We hope you will be with us for Catacombs next Friday evening.
When was the last time you Skyped with your missionary in a foreign land during worship and shared a common bond? You will have that opportunity next Sunday during worship at Zion as we celebrate an UBUNTU Global Ministries service of relationship and connection and dedicate gifts which we have provided to the people of Nicaragua to build biodigesters and help to provide for food security.
When was the last time you brought your animal friend to church with you? Please feel free to do that on October 7 as we ask for God's blessing of the animals in our lives and gives thanks for the warmth and comfort they bring to us. We are hoping for a special appearance from Faith (our church dog) who is still getting acquainated and acclimated to her new surroundings.
When was the last time you spent a Sunday afternoon participating in the Delaware CropWalk? We need walkers for this year's walk on October 7. The annual CropWalk is a meaningful expression of your faith as you come together with the wider church to help those in need of assistance.
When was the last time you helped to celebrate your church's 175th birthday? We hope you will do just that on the afternoon of October 14 at 2:00. This opportunity only comes once. Please plan to be present.
As you can see, there is much to do. New occasions teach new duties. We have many new opportunities to serve, to worship and to gather together in the name of Christ Jesus. We hope you feel the call to participate in these opportunities to bring honor and glory to God.
Ubuntu,
Pastor Pete

In the Zion mailbox this week...
Dear Friends at Zion,
I received the get well card you sent. It immediately filled me with the same strong emotions of love and comfort that I feel every time I attend church at Zion.
It was nice to see so many familiar names, as well as some new ones, who had signed the card. I look forward to Zion's weekly email to follow the progress and activities. The pictures are great too!
Brad and I attend Christ Episcopal church here in Dover. It is the church of his childhood. There is a large and vibrant congregation with two services on Sunday and another at noon on Wednesday.
Thank you for your prayers. I am now cancer free, but will spend the fall receiving chemotherapy treatments and a slow reconstructive process.
I will always have a warm spot in my heart for Zion and all the wonderful, caring people we met there.
God bless you all, Ellen Richardson

Two-thirds of the offering is used by the UCC's Justice and Witness Ministries (JWM) to support a variety of justice initiatives, advocacy efforts, and direct service projects. Please share your abundant resources as you are able.
