From the Pastor's Desk
"We are all ministers, some of us just happen to be clergy."
Last week in this space we read about our Association's efforts to refashion what it is doing to support the ministries and mission of member churches. At Zion we are also engaged, at the present moment, in an effort to reimagine and revision our structure and our organization so that we are better prepared and equipped to effectively embrace and discharge our responsibilities in mission.
We are, therefore, organizing ourselves on the principle that we are all ministers. We each have particular gifts we can share with each other in Christian community. Sharing with each other will advance ourselves in mission as we give our lives to each other and others in need of our assistance. Consider serving your church with this frame of reference in mind.
Perhaps you have a certain knack for being handy around the house. Consider serving on MOP (Ministers of Property) where you will assist your church in keeping the buildings and grounds up to par. Perhaps you have a particular passion about worship and/or music. If you do, we could sure use you on MOW (Ministers of Worship and Music). MOE (Ministers of Education) might be just the ticket if you have abilities and inclinations to teach others.
Are you a bean counter like me? If so, consider helping Chuck and Carrie as a Minister of Budget (MOB) where the church fiscal matters of budget and finance are discussed. If you want to be involved with our activities helping others within the community, join Mike and Donna on MOM (Ministers of Mission) and further our support of Family Promise, Andrews House and People in Need.
We eagerly await your response as you consider where to minister. Each of us has gifts to share. Serving in this way is one important way to help your church.
In Christ,
Pastor Pete
