Good News!

CONGRATULATIONS to Jeanette Morris!

POSITIVE update from Matt Fields:
Matt says that he and Amy are hopeful that his
surgery will have a good outcome, but they really
won't know for sure for a couple of months.
Matt is optimistic;  his mobility has increased and
he has been able to walk around some.  His sense
of humor is very much intact as he shared with me
that he has some very cool, "manly" scars.

News from Church Council

As many of you may be aware, our long time tenant, The Arts Academy, located in our former parsonage, will not be renewing their lease for the 2013 school year.  Church Council has already made some difficult decisions in an attempt to close the $12,000 budget shortfall resulting from the termination of the lease.  Church Council is also researching all possibilities for the end use of the building.  Please keep the church leadership in your prayers as we grapple with this unfortunate circumstance.

Zion Gives

VBS Mission Project

As part of VBS, we will have a mission story each day. The children will also be putting together "care bags" that will be donated to SHARE, an organization committed to sharing essential supplies with homeless and hurting people.  We need your help gathering these supplies!  Items we need for the kits are:  washcloths, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, shampoo, combs & gallon sized Zip-loc bags.  A box will be in the back of the sanctuary for the items.  Thank you!

Biodigester Update

As you know, Pastor Pete has challenged the Zion congregation to raise a modest sum of $500 by December 1st to expand the Biodigester cooking sites in Nicaragua. We are at $323 after just two weeks into the challenge!  Please note that the extra dollar(s) is for the "Biodigester" on your offering slip or envelope. Thank you for supporting this effort!

People in Need

The PIN food pantry experiences a higher demand in the summer since school lunches are not available.  Please grab a few items on your next shopping trip to help restock the PIN pantry.  PLEASE make sure to only put NON-PERISHABLE items in the PIN box.  Carrie had the unpleasant surprise of odor & maggots in her car this week due to a bag of rotten potatoes in the bottom of the PIN box.  Yuck!  Please know that the donations are only delivered to PIN every 4-8 weeks; after enough has accumulated.  Some items had to be thrown away, but 51 pounds of food were still delivered to PIN this week.  That brings our total to 152 pounds so far this year.   Thank you for your contributions!
