This Week at Zion        

 

 

This week at Zion we will be emphasizing the theme of Family. We will be singing and hugging and smiling and laughing as sisters and brothers in God's Family.

 

Plan to be with us in community this Sunday as we give thanks for another wonderful day the Lord has made.

Sacrifice
 
There are times where sacrifice is necessary. Sacrifice may mean giving up things we want to do or things we want to have in order to do something more fulfilling.
 
I was reminded of that sense of sacrifice last week as I watched Mike Newcomb patiently and with great compassion welcome and care for the families of Family Promise who had come to our church for a week of respite and care.
 
I am sure there were dozens of things Mike could have been doing on his own behalf.  But instead of that he was caring for others and extending hospitality to our guests.  He was joined by many others members of the church during the week.
 
It was a joy to behold.
 
There will be days of sacrifice ahead for our church in the near future.  My hope is that our hearts and minds are open to the possibilities that responding to challenges in a positive spirit of discernment is one way we might determine how and where God is calling us to be.

Saving lives from cancer starts one team, one participant, and one dollar at a time. Our team is doing our part to make sure that cancer never steals another year of anyone's life.  The impact we can make together is much greater than what any of us could do alone!
