This Week at Zion
We have a saying in the United Church of Christ; "In essentials, unity; in nonessentials, diversity". In other words, in the Christian tradition, there are some things which are nonnegotiable such as a belief in Jesus Christ. There are other matters upon which we might disagree such as just what Jesus Christ means to each of us. Our congregation is a very eclectic blend of believers. This Sunday we welcome new members into the church. Please join us!

From the Pastor's Desk
This Sunday we welcome new members into our fellowship at Zion. These men and women came to the Body of Christ at their baptism. They now affirm their faith as they join us in a covenantal relationship of trust and respect as we continue to grow in Christ together. We rejoice in their pilgrimage of faith which has brought them to this time and place.
What a gathering we are! Different vocations. Different backgrounds. Different personalities (Amen!!!) Different theologies. We celebrate this diversity. What a wonder that we have come together at Zion to worship God. What a joy to see us moved by God's Spirit in ways that are making a difference in our own lives and in our community. It is especially memorable that as new members join us they are doing so in our 175th year as a faith community in Delaware. New members join a long list of saints who have worshipped in the same sanctuary and on the same pews at Zion. Our hope is that, in this our anniversary year, we not only affirm our faith but affirm our dedication to ensure that Zion will continue as a warm and welcoming place to worship for years to come. In the Unity of Christ, Pastor Pete

Memorial Garden
As we approach this Memorial Day, we will be remembering those who have made the transition from this life to the next over the past year. We will remember Donna Allen, Dale Barger, Nancy Fuchs, Bob Miller, Doris Patterson, Louise Sell and Elizabeth Wheeler in a Memorial Garden planted on the church grounds. If we have inadvertently omitted one of your loved ones or one who had a special connection to Zion from this list, please let Carrie know by this Sunday so that we do not forget anyone who made a special contribution to our lives or to the life of Zion.

Volunteers Needed
We are looking for volunteers to assist with the Free Summer Lunch Program at Woodward Elementary this summer. The volunteer service would involve helping to set up the site, tearing down the site and helping children open those hard to open items in their lunch. The Woodward Family Resource Center in partnership with Andrews House and the Delaware City Schools administers the program. Please let Pastor Pete or Carrie know if you are able to help with this important effort. Please help if you can!
