This Week at Zion

Communion Sunday

Last week, in the first of our three reflections upon prayer, we focused upon the important role of prayer in transforming us from individuals who think of God as part of our lives into persons who realize that we are a part of God's life.  This is an important change of reference.  Prayer helps us in this transformation by bringing us home, by helping us to MOVE IN to God, the heart's true home.  This week we will be thinking about the MOVE UP into divine intimacy with God which our transformation has prepared us for.  As we MOVE UP into God's glory we give thanks and praise God in prayer.  Plan to be with us, all are welcome at Zion.

From
the Pastor's Desk

Wikipedia defines podcast as "a type of
digital media consisting of an episodic series of files  (either audio or vid
eo) subscribed to and downloaded through web  syndication. The word is a neologism derived from "broadcast" and "pod" from the success of the iPod, as podcasts are often listened to on portable media players."

That is where I began my journey into this new form of communication, with a definition. That is how foreign podcasts are to me.  And, actually, they aren't very new. They are just new to me.  You know me well enough to know I am not bashful about trying new and different things. If a particular technology will help us share the good news of Jesus Christ, then I am all for trying it.  In fact, in that view, it might be irresponsible not to attempt to use podcasts.

So, here we go!  Within the next month I will begin producing podcasts for your listening pleasure.  I am going to begin by producing audio reproductions of the Sunday morning message.  Please help in this regard by suggesting other appropriate applications for a podcast. Our job is to reach as many as possible and this may well be worth the time and effort.  That is the hope.
