This Week at Zion
Communion Sunday
We are coming to the end of our three week reflection upon evangelism. We have heard Jesus call each of us to share the good news of the gospel with others. We have talked about how to do this work. In the third and final part of this series we will ask how a small local church knows who to share the good news with. Jesus targeted his audience. "I have been sent only to the lost sheep of Israel". Likewise, Paul and Peter targeted their audiences. On Sunday we will speak about who we can effectively minister to as evangelicals in order that the church is known as a place where love can be shared and God's grace can be experienced. Plan to be with us at Zion this Sunday where all are welcome.

From the Pasto r's Desk
Something Special Last week we welcomed The Reverend Mssrs. John Cramton, Harold Steindam and Eric Williams to Zion. They were here to help us understand how we might fit into the Wider Church in the days ahead. Each of them, in separate conversations with myself and other members participating in the discussion, mentioned that the minute they stepped into Zion on Saturday they could "feel that something special is happening in this place" or other words to that effect. I am sure you agree. Something "special" is happening at Zion. It is evident in the smiles and laughter that are shared here at Zion. It is evident in the prayerful support extended to members who are hurting or suffering or grieving. It is evident in the music we sing. It is evident in the love and extravagant hospitality extended to our visitors. It is evident in the way we are actively searching for God's truth and light breaking into this world. The world doesn't stop at the front door of the church. There is a larger community beyond our doors that we want and need to be connected to. This week we will conclude our series entitled Gone Fishin'. In our final "installment" we will think about "where" to go fishing. Certainly some fishing holes are more productive than others. Or are they? I have my own ideas on this topic and I am anxious to hear your ideas. Let's make "something special" happen at Zion on Sunday. See you then. Pastor Pete

Spring Book Study
The Zion Spring Book Study will begin in early March. We will be reading, discussing and reflecting upon the book, Christianity for the Rest of Us: How the Neighborhood Church is Transforming the Faith. Our book was written by Diana Butler Bass, a popular contemporary preacher and theologian. To enable us to order enough copies of the book for those who wish to participate in the study, please let Pastor Pete know by February 10 if you want us to order a book for you. We will meet Saturday mornings at different locations.

Cards or Calls Appreciated
We have received news that former Zion pastor, the Reverend Mr. Dan Bill, is facing some medical challenges at this time. While tests are ongoing and a diagnosis is incomplete, we lift Dan and Kitty up in our prayers to a comforting and healing God. The Zion family remembers fondly and affectionately the time the Bills were with us in Delaware. Dan's duties as pastor at his current church are being assumed by his church family as he looks for an appropriate diagnosis. Please see Pastor Pete for additional contact information for Dan and Kitty. Please spend some time in prayer for Dan and Kitty in the days ahead.

Quilt Update
As you know, a part of our 175th Anniversa ry will include the production of a commemorative anniversary quilt. We would like to have a square from EACH family represented on our new quilt. The quilt committee is busy getting squares cut and ready to go! There will be workshops held
to help everyone create their own square. (Dates of workshops to be announced.) Questions? See Rose Ann Haynes or Marlene Hitchcock.
