Youth Center Sees Cirque du Soleil OVO

Circus Arts Students Take a Field Trip to Santa Monica

On Wednesday January 25, 2012, twenty-five students and staff from the after-school Youth Center were entertained by the OVO performers of Cirque du Soleil under the big tent in Santa Monica.  The students who attended are dedicated members of the Hope Street Youth Circus program directed by Amy O'Neill.  The circus arts program was created back in 1999 by Donna Wood-Babcock, who made the original connection with Cirque du Soleil.  As a result, Cirque du Soleil continues to support the Hope Street Youth Circus program annually, as well as invite students to shows when possible.  The Youth Circus program uses circus arts training and performances to improve physical fitness and teach life skills to children and youth at the Hope Street Youth Center. Our students thank you Cirque du Soleil and Circus Arts teachers Amy and Donna.

National Head Start Program Video Highlights Our Families

Head Start Healthy Marriage video 2011.mp4

Hope Street Family Center offers an 8-hour Healthy Marriage workshop called Talking Points. Parents learn to strengthen their relationships as a couple and as a family.  Hope Street parents Yolanda and Christino are featured in this video.  Entitled Head Start Approaches to Strenghten Families, the video highlights how the Healthy Marriage and Family Initiative (HMFI) has supported Head Start parents to build close and dependable relationships in their families. Our children, our parents and our facility are also highlighted.  The Talking Points workshops are held on the weekends throughout the community.  For more information or to sign up for the next session, please contact the Pico Union Family Preservation Network at (213) 742-5868 or visit the Hope Street website.
