Dignity Health Pasadena Staff Gives Back
Donation of Books Expands Library for Hope Street Kids
Members of the Dignity Health corporate office in Pasadena are advancing the literacy and education of the children and teens at the Hope Street Youth Center by donating hundreds of books. The Employee Engagement Committee organized the holiday book drive, with the support of Pamela Hearn and Rachelle Wenger. Representatives Donna Sanchez, Michelle Arguien, and Rebecca Haro Kuo delivered the books and were greeted by a roomful of children. Youth Center students presented them with a thank you card ment to be shared with everyone who contributed. These books will expand the library resources available to children ranging from 6-18 years. Thanks to our friends in the Pasadena office! We are always in need of new books and additional resources. If you know a corporation that is willing to adopt or sponsor Hope Street Family Center, please contact Amy Costello.

Notre Dame Academy Volunteer Week
Thank you to five amazing high school volunteers!
Notre Dame Academy, in West Los Angeles, held Senior Life Experience Week January 17-20, 2012. Five seniors volunteered at Hope Street for a total of 120 hours collectively. These five young women worked on a variety of projects in the morning and then tutored elementary children in the afternoon. "They were a great group of girls that assisted with many necessary jobs," commented Director of Volunteers Tracy Nordbak. Hope Street Family Center was referred to Notre Dame Academy by California Hospital's Sister Judeen. NDA Coordinator Therese Martin Portman placed the girls who were interested in child development and healthcare here at California Hospital. If you know other groups or individuals interested in volunteering, please contact Director of Volunteers Tracy Nordbak at (213) 742-5707.
