| Capital Campaign Update |
Fundraising: In November, CHMC Foundation received a $400,000 grant from the Weingart Foundation for this project! Funds raised to date total $12 miilion (76%) of the $15.7 million project budget.
Construction: Ground stabilization, plumbing and foundation work are in progress this month.

Hope Street Family Center
is building a new 26,500 sf LEED certified building to expand its wellness and recreation services to children and families in the Downtown and Pico Union communities.

Kosher Thanksgiving Celebration for 300
Nashuva Families Volunteer to Support Hope Street Families
 
On Sunday November 20th, 45 families (nearly 225 persons) from Hope Street Family Center and over 80 volunteers from Nashuva celebrated together for the Thanksgiving holiday. Children enjoyed the many craft activities, which included face painting, coloring festive hats, designing picture frames, and spinning paint art. At noon, a homemade lunch was served. The event concluded with colorful food baskets being distributed for the Pico Union Family Preservation Program families. This year, the event was highlighted by KABC-7 and KMEX-34. Maria is a Featured Channel 7 "Cool Kid"

On November 8th, Danny Romero and Channel 7 visited Hope Street Family Center to interview Maria. Maria originally came to Hope Street when she was seven years old. She is now a senior in high school and mentors younger students at the Hope Street Youth Center. "They look up to you, (so) you have to be a good person and be a role model. And it's just fun helping kids. You feel satisfied that you can help a kid out and it makes you feel right," Maria said. Watch the video above to see her story as reported by KABC-7. Annual Winter Festival for Children and their Families!
On Friday, December 9th, Hope Street Family Center is inviting over 300 families to Keck Hall for entertainment, snacks, and special activities. Hope Street families are being to invited to attend at either 11am or 3pm. This year, "It's a Small World" is the theme. Please feel free to come see the festivities.
