City Council Visits Early Childhood Center

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Celebrates New Lending Library

On October 3rd, City Councilman Ed Reyes' Chief of Staff Jose Gardea read to a roomful of children and parents in celebration of the opening of the Hope Street Family Center Lending Library at the Early Childhood Center in Pico Union. Michael Rosenzweig Bock, with help from his troop, designed, built and filled the library in order to earn his Eagle Scout Badge - the highest award in the Scouts. Michael and his family joined Jose Gardea, Hope Street Director Vickie Kropenske, andAngelica Library Ribbon Cutting Pastor Carlos Paiva for the official ribbon cutting ceremony.  The lending library will be accessible to children and families living in the densely populated and working poor neighborhood of Pico Union.  The library will promote reading and school readiness for the children at the Early Childhood Center. This Center is one of three that support over 2,000 children and families at Hope Street Family Center.  The Monday evening celebration honored the culmination of Michael's project and the long-term impact of the library for the local community.

Fall Festival at LA Live for Preschoolers

Staples Center Foundation, AEG, ESPN Radio, and the Herbalife Family Foundation Provide October 31st Celebration

Green ScreenHope Street Family Center preschoolers from each of the three child development centers participated in the October 31st outing to LA Live.

Jennifer Lynch at the Staples Center Foundation garnered the support of AEG, ESPN Radio, and the Herbalife Family Foundation to offer a fun field trip where the children and their parents were able to parade through their offices receiving treats, as well as "healthy-eating" coloring books. Pictured above are our children experimenting with the green screen from the AEG digital media department. They loved being on camera, and their parents were able to witness the magic of the digital effects. The children and families appreciated this experience provided by the Staples Center Foundation. Thanks Jennifer!
