Family Camping for Hope Street

140 family members attended Rowdy Ridge Gang Camp

For the past 18 years, HSFC families have benefitted from a special collaboration with the Scott Newman Center.  This year, 140 mothers and children enjoyed a weeklong camp experience located in the mountains of Big Bear.  They were provided with transportation, cabins, meals, and activities from sun up to sundown.

Over the years, the parents and children have offered their feedback and stories that have clearly illustrated the transformation and personal gains from the experience.  They look forward to leaving behind their struggles and finding joy and peace in their mountain retreat while rediscovering their strengths.  Upon their return, they share their renewed friendships and novel experiences with each other and with the staff at HSFC.  Their faces are gleaming with smiles and wonderful exhaustion from the momentary release of their burdens.  All of the families and children express their desire for the opportunity to return the following year.

"As a staff member, I have had the privilege of witnessing the families participate for the past 15 years in this enormous annual event and I also look forward to seeing their smiling faces in the years to come," said Sherrie Segovia. For more information contact Dr. Segovia at (213) 742-6039.
