In this edition we will be looking in detail at the proposals made in the emergency budget relating to pension provision, the use of drawdown contracts and a reminder of some of the changes proposed by the coalition government and those from our previous government which are still working their way through into the tax regime.

Changes to Drawdown Pension Rules
 
SWHIn previous editions of 'Your Money Matters' we have given examples of how important it is to take independent advice when wishing to draw pension funds in order to purchase the most beneficial annuity (pension) using the Open Market Option facility and taking advantage of enhanced pensions available due to the client's state of health.

New Solvency Rules from January 2013 
 
Steve PhillipsAre you likely to be taking you pension in the next 2 or 3 years?  If so, due to new solvency rules coming in from January 2013 annuity rates could fall by up to 10%.
 
So it may be beneficial for you to buy your pension earlier rather than later.
