H.O.P.E. Grant
| | Mike & his wife parasailing on vacation! |
The Michael G. Belz Foundation is named after Michael G. Belz who was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor at the age of 27. Michael did not know how long he would live or the quality of life he would have after diagnosis. Therefore, it was important for him to live as normal a life as possible amidst treatments, surgeries, and medical appointments. Michael lived life to the fullest while continuing to maintain hope for tomorrow! The Michael G. Belz Foundation would like to help brain tumor or brain cancer patients live and celebrate their lives just as Michael inspired those around him. We are proud to announce our inaugural grant program to help b rain tumor patients. We developed a H.O.P.E. Grant in which patients are able to apply to receive financial assistance from the foundation to continue to live and celebrate their life upon diagnosis. When applying, potential recipients complete a short application and explain needs, complete a simple budget worksheet, and explain how the grant will offer H.O.P.E.Check the MGBF website for grant recipient announcements! |
Awareness
The Michael G. Belz Foundation, along with other brain tumor organizations, joined forces with The International Brain Tumor Alliance and planned awareness events to help educate the world about brain tumors during 2010's International Brain Tumor Awareness Week. The MGBF asked supporters to wear gray during the week to help raise awareness and to spread H.O.P.E. Supporters sent us photos of themselves. After collecting all of the photographs we created a video for the world to see that gray matters!
| | Greg & Eileen Belz | Why gray? Gray is the color that represents brain tumors because of the gray matter of the brain.
Even though International Brain Tumor Awareness Week is over, every day can be an opportunity to spread brain tumor awareness. There is much that you can do to help!
~Forward our gray video to a friend, tweet or post it on your facebook page.
~Educate yourself about brain tumors. Check out MGBF and the resources to learn more.
~Wear a gray ribbon...People will ask you what the gray ribbon is for, discussion will follow and H.O.P.E. will spread! |

GoodSearch and GoodShop for the Michael G Belz Foundation
Do you GoodSearch/GoodShop for the MGBF? If so, THANK YOU! This year the Michael G. Belz Foundation received $143.82 because of your searching and shopping!
Here's how it works... GoodSearch.com is a new Yahoo-powered search engine that donates half its advertising revenue, about a penny per search, to the charities its users designate. Use it just as you would any search engine, get quality search results from Yahoo, and watch the donations add up! GoodShop.com is a new online shopping mall which donates up to 30 percent of each purchase to your favorite cause! Hundreds of great stores including Amazon, Target, Gap, Best Buy, eBay, Macy's and Barnes & Noble have teamed up with GoodShop and every time you place an order, you'll be supporting your favorite cause. And if you download the GoodSearch - Michael G Belz Foundation toolbar, our cause will earn money every time you shop and search online - even if you forget to go to GoodShop or GoodSearch first!
