Allow me to wish you and those close to you the very best in the New Year! As we leave 2010 and begin 2011, we will make new resolutions and set new goals. Referring to our new hopes and aspirations we will look forward to 2011 with new energy, vigor and drive.
Personally I am committing myself to making 2011 a year of personal growth and well-being. I hope you will consider doing the same and work daily to become the best version of yourself and be the person you were intended to be.
Dr. Fred Luskin tells us that "our vulnerability allows us to be hurt, but our vulnerability allows us to be loved and the same vulnerability that allows us to be hurt, allows us to be intimate, connected and loved."
Referring to free choice Dr. Luskin asks "do you want to dwell over and over and over again to try to protect yourself from what went wrong, what you didn't get or how it didn't work out, or do you want to see the free choice and goodness behind every act of care that has ever been given to you?" Dr. Luskin says "you can't do both....you can't be obsessed with why people didn't love you and be fully open to those who have. You have to make some choice."
Each of us has been hurt in some way during the past year. None of us was immune, simply because we are human and because of that, vulnerable. According to Dr. Luskin, this allows us to be both hurt and to be loved.
As we begin the year 2011 each of us has the opportunity to exercise "free choice". In so doing each of us will have the opportunity to choose whether to live in the past and remain hurt, or whether to move away from pain, towards love. If we choose to move towards love the path is through the practice of forgiveness. Remember, Dr. Luskin says "you can't do both" and the choice is yours.
Recently I discovered a wonderful video on You Tube that I want to share with you as you begin 2011. I hope you enjoy it. I hope you will pass it on to everyone you know so they can also benefit from the wisdom offered by its' producer.
