Behind The Mask

Recently, Richard and I were fortunate enough to be given a gift (thank you Jordan!) to see Lady Gaga in concert. The show was phenomenal, showcasing all her talent, dancing, and costumes. There were many attendees who used this show as an opportunity for self-expression by adorning themselves in unique ways, proof that Lady Gaga is an inspiration to them.  We found the overall experience energizing and exciting.

In the midst of the show, during a brief interlude with the audience, Lady Gaga shared her past of how she was teased and unaccepted growing up. For that brief moment, I could feel her pain. I wondered if she has truly healed her wounds from that experience, and this in turn made me wonder if her costumed persona is a mask to shield and protect her true self, or if it was simply an extreme self-expression of her true self. Which was the real Lady Gaga?

People create masks to hide behind because they don't believe others will like and accept their true selves. They may do this as a result of having experienced such painful acts as teasing, being ridiculed, and not being accepted, or it could be a judgement and/or conclusion they have drawn as a result of conditioning. Either way, they block receiving the love and acceptance they require, for it never penetrates their mask to reach their true self.

Our true selves are worthy of love and acceptance. Expression of our true selves deserves to be embraced by our family and friends. It is very sad that there are people in this world that place limitations and restrictions on who deserves love and acceptance. However, it is those very people that are projecting onto others, what it is that they cannot love and accept about themselves.  But understanding this does not take away the deep hurt suffered by these limits and restrictions. In fact, the wounds can run deep and even follow into future lifetimes if not healed.

Endeavor to expose the real you, in all it's glory, divinity, and beauty.  Only then can you experience receiving the love and acceptance you require. Your Creator is loving and accepting of you, as are all heavenly beings, and even those on earth. Heal those wounds of being ridiculed, teased, cast-out, unaccepted and unloved, and let the real you shine your light! I assure you it will be a most gratifying experience!
