 Don't Be a Lone Wolf Entrepreneurs, authors, inventors and small business owners are frequently adding services not offered before. They often need to reinvent or re-introduce themselves to expand their sphere of influence. If you have written a book, created a new product or added new services to your existing business, how do you create a buzz to make the public aware? Here are a few suggestions: Don't be a Lone Wolf! There are PR professionals, web designers, marketing experts and communication coaches who will support you. Interview experts and find one who can work within your budget to partner with you and jump-start your new venture. Create a web presence that evolves into a marketing campaign to telegraph what is newsworthy and needed about your latest endeavor. Write a press release or hire someone and announce it publically on the web. Use social media to build traction. Tweet so you can be visible on Twitter. Add your new book or services to your Linkedin account. Edit the personal chit chat from your Facebook page and create a dialogue with like-minded peers. Start blogging and add comments to other bloggers that relate to your specific field of interest. Create a brand image by appearing on video doing a monthly video newsletter to discuss ideas from your book and explain the value of the new product or services and their benefits . Take a good look at yourself. Are you the best brand representative you can be? Work with a communication coach or take a workshop if your communication skills are weak. Establish yourself as an expert. Speak wherever you can. Organize a speech that offers information and value to an audience and peddle it. Contact the Rotary , the public Library, the Chamber of Commerce and offer to speak. Get comfortable presenting in front of an audience and get the word out about you. Network. Aren't you always referring people? Join business organizations. Reconnect with your alumni club, your old book club buddies, your neighbors and your friends (often the last to know about your work) and talk about your new passion. Get involved in your community and develop relationships where you can help other colleagues succeed. Hang out in places where like-minded professionals share ideas about the Royals, the President's found birth certificate, the tornadoes striking the country or whatever gets you in on the conversation...one thing leads to another.
