Hello Everyone!
We're celebrating Spring with the Very Hungry Caterpillar! Today (April 6th) and tomorrow, Saturday (April 7th), the Caterpillar will be visiting Apostrophe Books, handing out Easter treats to all of our young book lovers! And at 2 pm on Saturday the 7th, we will have a very special Caterpillar story time - you don't want to miss it! Details follow in the newsletter, below.
We'll be the bookseller at the next LBPLF's Booked event, which will be held on April 22nd. This month, the Simple Supper is with Dr. John Jung, author of the memoir Southern Fried Rice. Reservations are required; contact information is below.
World Book Night is coming up soon -- April 23rd! Be sure to stay tuned for updates regarding your books and when you can pick them up at our store. We will be emailing each of you to let you know. Thank you for being book givers...reading... it's good thing!
We have a big selection of cards and gifts for Easter and Passover, with a lot of unique handmade cards. Be sure to stop in while supplies last! We also have a whole new selection of Artwork for Education cards -- scroll down for some samples by local students!
The Secret Door Club, our book club for preteens, is such a great success that we'd like to launch a club for adults. If you're interested in joining, email us with book/meeting suggestions. We have a signup sheet at the counter in the store -- we will be getting this started very soon!

Meet the Very Hungry Caterpillar! Today and tomorrow, Saturday, from 1pm to 3 pm, the Caterpillar will be visiting our store and handing out Easter Candy! Free stickers with every purchase! We have all of Eric Carle's colorful, whimsical books on sale every day at 10% off. On Saturday, April 7th, at 2 pm, we will have a very special Story Time with the Caterpillar! Please come join us, and have your picture taken with our hungry friend! The Easter candy will be sponsored by our favorite chocolatier, Cherie Balisi, whose yummy chocolate we sampled during the Chocolate Festival! |
 LBPLF's Booked! Event
A Simple Supper with Dr. John Jung
LBPF's next Booked: A Simple Supper Library Lovers will be Sunday, April 22nd, with Dr. John Jung. Dr. Jung grew up in Macon, Georgia, where his family were the only Chinese in the small Southern town; he relates his experience in his acclaimed memoir, Southern Fried Rice.
Booked will be held at Forbidden City restaurant, from 4 pm to 7 pm. The minimum donation is $40 per person, and reservations are required. Please email info@lbplfoundation.org or call 562-628-2441 to reserve your spot!
We are honored to be the bookseller at this very special event. Proceeds from the Booked events go to support Long Beach Public Library.

 Artwork for Education New Cards!
Some of our most popular greeting cards are made by children. These whimsical, adorable cards are unique and eye-catching (and many are unintentionally hilarious). Your loved ones will appreciate and remember these very special cards! These high-quality cards sell for only $2.95 each, and the school of the student artist receives 50  cents for every card you purchase. The Artwork for Education program not only raises money for schools, but it also encourages creativity and gives students an exciting chance to see their artwork out in the world.  Two local schools, Lowell Bayside Academy and Weaver Elementary School, have added to their collection. We've got their latest additions in the store, plus lots more from around the country.
