Hello Everyone! Happy New Year! Thank you all so much for making a very merry holiday season at Apostrophe Books! We are so grateful to all of our customers, and we're honored that so many of you did your holiday shopping in our store. We know you have to choose carefully how and where you shop, and we deeply appreciate your business.
We've got some fun events set up for the new year, and we hope you'll join us for all of them! On January 20th and 21st we have an amazing Author and Illustrator event -- six authors and illustrators will be sharing their talents at Lowell Elementary School and in our store. Then, on February 4th, we'll be launching our dear friend Priscilla Maltbie's new book, Bambino and Mr. Twain. And we will be the bookseller at another great LBPLF event, an evening with novelist Lisa See, on February 11th. Be sure to get all the details below!
And we're looking forward to hosting reading groups and author events in our new upstairs space -- please email us if you have an idea for an event! Stay tuned for announcements about all the fun things we already have planned for our gorgeous new room!
Did you know that there is FREE PARKING in the lot behind Apostrophe Books? Parking on Second Street can be a challenge, and the meters can be an expensive hassle -- check out our free parking for a more pleasant shopping experience!
If you haven't already signed up, ask about our Frequent Buyer's Club the next time you're in the store. It's completely free to join, and the only information we need is your name: our system keeps track of your spending, and once you reach $100, you get a coupon for $5 off your next purchase! School is back in session! We offer textbooks on our website, to rent or to buy: www.apostrophebooks.net has a wide selection. You can also bring your reading list in to us at the store, and we will be happy to help you find all the books you need for class or for a research project. Happy reading! Book Launch!
P.I. Maltbie's Bambino and Mr. Twain
On February 4th, from 2-4pm, Long Beach author Priscilla "P.I" Maltbie will visit Apostrophe Books to launch her latest delightful children's book, Bambino and Mr. Twain. In each of her books, Priscilla portrays historical figures in very private, very human moments: Claude Monet longs for his painting to captivate art critics as much as trains captivate his young son; a finicky cat inspires Picasso to move from his Blue Period to his Rose Period; and in this latest, a stubborn cat keeps Mark Twain company as he grieves for his late wife. Publisher's Weekly calls Bambino and Mr. Twain "unexpectedly moving." Priscilla's stories are rich with grace, wry humor, and, of course, mischievous cats. Don't miss this very special day with our great friend! All of Priscilla's books are 10% off at Apostrophe Books, and she will be very happy to sign copies. Come celebrate with us! |
