We are so excited about all of the events, new releases, and holiday fun coming in the next two months! We love this time of year!
Last week was a very busy week for us, with events at the Long Beach JCC and a book signing at the store last Saturday. Thanks to everyone who made all of our events a success -- be sure to check out the pictures in this week's newsletter.
This weekend, the GRINCH is coming to Apostrophe Books! Have your picture taken with the Grinch! When you purchase a copy of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, he will sign it for you. And, on Saturday, come for a very special Grinch story time! Scroll down for dates and for all the fun details!
We also have more events coming up! We're participating in Small Business Saturday this Saturday, November 26th. We are very excited to be hosting a poetry reading in our brand new reading room above the store on December 3rd. And we'll be joining Father Greg Boyle at his talk at the Main Branch of the Long Beach Public Library on December 10th. More details will follow in this and upcoming newsletters -- mark your calendars and stay tuned!
These events are keeping us very, very busy, and we are so thankful to be a big part of such a wonderful, supportive, vibrant community!

Cutting for Stone, by Abraham Verghese
Abraham Verghese's debut novel is a charming, tender, complex story you do not want to miss. Cutting for Stone travels from eastern India to Ethiopia to New York City, taking us through decades and generations. Twin brothers Marion and Shiva Stone are born in Addis Ababa to unusual parents -- to say more would spoil the elegant unfolding of the narrative -- and come of age and become doctors together in the midst of incredible political turmoil.
Seamlessly, flawlessly, Verghese weaves medical details into the story, enriching and informing the setting and the characters. There is much that is new and strange in this novel, but because it is, ultimately, a story of family, of love and loss, there is also much that is familiar.

An Afternoon with Father Gregory Boyle
December 10th, 2 pm
Father Greg Boyle, founder of Homeboy Industries and author of Tattoos on the Heart, will be speaking and signing copies of his book at the Main Library in Long Beach on December 10th at 2 pm.
