April 5, 2012
Greetings!

Every woman is a mother!  We have our special day this month... and yup, it can be a cheesy Hallmark moment, but it's also a time to honor the creativity of all women everywhere.  We have each brought to birth something wonderful, something conceived out of the passion of our hearts:  a work of art, a project, a business, a transformative idea, a women's circle, a loving relationship, a fulfilling of our mission and purpose.   These are all our children and we have poured ourselves into the care and nurturing of them.  And good for us!  Women are incredible!

But in the process, we sometimes lose ourselves.  Maybe you want to think about taking care of YOU by scheduling an overnight or attending one of the fabulous events we've got coming up.  Remember the flight attendant's admonition "Put your own oxygen mask on first and THEN assist those around you".  You can't continue to create and nurture out of an empty well.  Think about it.  Give yourself a Mothers' Day gift.

And while we're talking about Mothers' Day...  if you don't know what to get Mom for a gift, how about a gift certificate for a fabulous Spirit Portrait done by internationally known artist Melissa Harris (or maybe have yours done and give it to Mom as a belated gift?) Melissa is returning on May 20th. But hurry, only 3 portrait time slots left.

Or register Mom or you or maybe both of you for an overnight, a discussion on women's financial planning, or bookbinding, or Discernment, or Dreamwork, or World Religions?  Or sign up for the 7-week acupuncture clinic starting April 30th.

So, however you celebrate Mothers' Day this year, take a moment on May 13th to celebrate YOU!

Thank You
Thank you to two special friends:

THE SURVEY SAYS:  Thanks to Jennie Isbell for helping us create the recent survey. And thank you to everyone who has responded so far.  We've gotten SO MUCH information for future programming.  For instance, 44% said they first heard of The Gathering inn from a friend, and 52% responded that the main thing that would encourage them to come to a program at the Inn was if a friend came with them.... so watch for some new pricing incentives if you bring a buddy.

If you haven't responded yet, the deadline in April 11th.  It's quick, easy, and fun to fill out.  And don't miss Jennie's two workshops coming up. (Gathering Inn Interest Survey)

HELP US HELP WOMEN:  Thank you to  Expressions Unlimited of Princeton, MA, for sponsoring the May 12th fundraiser for our Ruth Scholarship. It will be a great day here at the Inn to experience all of the many programs offered by Expressions Unlimited.  Sessions will include three different types of yoga, sessions on grief recovery, preparing for surgery, nutrition, and other aspects of health and well-being.  Tour the Inn, walk the labyrinth, have a snack, and participate in one or all of the sessions.  100% of the proceeds will go directly toward making The Gathering Inn's programs available to those who might not have the resources to attend.

'Tis the Season
for Spring Cleaning!

Even though Massachusetts had a really mild winter, we still have our winter clothes in the closets, our windows closed, our lawns and yards looking shabby and bleak. But now it's time to change all that.

Break out the flip-flops, throw open the windows, air out the house, hang the curtains and blankets on the clothesline... does anyone really still have a clothesline anymore? I hope so. There is nothing that smells and feels better than fresh bed linens right off the clothesline.

Even for the most fastidious cleaner (which by the way doesn't describe me!), after winter there are cobwebs in the corners, dust bunnies under the couch, and a general air of staleness.

We know what the tools are for spring cleaning our homes: vacuums and mops, Windex (or a green equivalent) and dust rags, soap and water, rakes and wheelbarrows and trash barrels. But what are the tools for spring cleaning ourselves-our minds, our hearts, our habits, our thoughts?

Find out what those tools are!
