The Gathering Inn
Women Helping Women December 27, 2011
|
Greetings!
What are YOUR resolutions for the New Year? Here at The Gathering Inn, we want to encourage and help you to make good self-care (body, mind, and spirit) a top priority in 2012. Busy women so often put everyone else's needs ahead of our own and thus lose ourselves in the process.
Make 2012 the year you take time to be still, come on retreat, take a class, learn how to eat right, begin an exercise practice--or a meditation practice--or whatever else will draw you into your spiritual core.
Watch our newsletters for opportunities throughout the year to develop the tools to blossom into the splendid fullness of who you are designed to be. The world is awaiting your gifts. |

You've Got GUTS!
Reflux, Constipation and Your GI Health
Led by Dr. Esther (Pereault) Roy
January 14, 2012 2:00-6:00PM
As part of The Gathering Inn's effort to encourage you to use the New Year as a time to recommit to improving your overall health, body-mind-spirit, we are offering this timely workshop. Space is limited, so register early.
Naturopathic doctor, Esther Roy, inspired us at our September potluck dinner when she shared the benefits and value of Naturopathy. Of all the workshops she offers, the most sought after one was about how to prevent or remedy intestinal and digestive issues. Esther's workshop will include information, handouts and demonstrations of digestion enhancing foods/herbs/bitter greens/spices, foods low in inflammatory potential, and a discussion of hydrotherapy applications.
Each person attending will be given information at registration about a food to bring (gluten free, vegan, etc.) and we will create and share a digestion friendly dinner at 5 PM.
Your $60 fee includes the workshop and dinner.

If you are a returning hiker, we will be hiking in a new location this year with new scenery.

Humble Heart
Yoga & Meditation Weekend
February 3-5, 2012
Traditionally, February brings to mind the many manifestations of "heart" - the expression of love, Valentine's Day icons, expectations, and alone-ness. There are no boundaries to the humbleness of our heart, only the possibility of complete freedom. With practice, the heart opens and the experience of "being " humble feels natural. Please join us at "The Gathering Inn", a quaint antique farmhouse in a lovely rural setting in Hubbardston MA, for a weekend of quiet respite, nurturing, yoga, meditation, group discussions, outdoor (weather permitting) exploration, and delicious vegetarian meals. The cost for the weekend retreat is $250 and includes 2 nights of lodging (shared rooms/bath), 6 meals and the weekend workshop/yoga. |

Where DO you find that which is holy?
This Christmas season I have been thinking about the similarities of the story of Christ's birth and our current culture. Whether you believe in Jesus as the Savior, as Son of God, as an historical person, as a Wisdom Teacher, and/or as one of many incarnations of God in human form, there are lessons to be learned by looking at that ancient narrative.
The story goes that all the peoples were required to go to their home town to be registered and to pay their tax. The city was full of people hustling and bustling, greeting friends they hadn't seen for a long time, eating, buying and selling, finding a place to stay after a long trip or settling in with relatives for a few days.
Besides paying taxes and registering, there were likely some family reunions, some feasting, some comments about how big the kids have grown over the last year, some griping about the high cost of living and the corrupt government, voices of concern about how to make a living, where to find a job, and how did the crops grow. I get a picture of a colorful, chaotic, loud city, probably with music blaring, animals bellowing, entertainment in the public arenas, and activity everywhere, ranging from pretty opulent and extravagant to quite poor and meager.
Into this chaos comes a poor, frightened young couple and - wouldn't you know it - her baby decides THIS is the best time to be born!
