The Gathering Inn
Women Helping Women                  December 5, 2011

Greetings!

The holiday season is the time we all feel the need to belong in a family or a community where we feel understood, appreciated and special ~ where we share traditions and simple rituals that tie us to each other and to the sacred ~ where we enjoy love and laughter and the promise of good things to come (and maybe some yummy chocolate goodie too!)

Each of us here at The Gathering Inn hope you will find all of those things within our "family" and we extend our best wishes for the most blessed of holidays to you and to all those whom you love.

Thank You

Thank you to everyone who attended our open house.  We loved meeting so many of you for the first time and look forward to your return visit.  If you couldn't come that day, please make an appointment by calling 978-820-1139.  We'd love to meet you and give you a tour.

Annual Holiday Potluck
December 14, 6:30PM

Our potluck this month will be a Holiday Party to enjoy some yummy holiday foods, great conversation, and festive fellowship!  Bring a friend.

Bring your favorite holiday dish, dress in your most festive... or in your most comfortable... or in your reindeer costume.. whatever will put you in a celebratory mood.

If you can't be there by the start time of 6:30pm, then come anyway and just bring a dessert.

Winter Solstice Celebration
December 21, 6:30-9:30PM
Yes, it's a very busy time of year, but you don't want to miss this opportunity to stop the rushing, shopping, wrapping, baking, and stressing and come experience a meaningful connection to the Solstice and the Light.

6:30 PM - Potluck dinner (bring any cultural, traditional solstice foods or your favorite healthy dish).

7:30 PM - Solstice Spiral of Light Ceremony
Our yoga studio space is transformed into a beautiful spiral of pine branches, sea shells, stones, driftwood, pine cones and berries, and candles.  Each person has a time to walk contemplatively into the center, light a candle, and reflect on what brings light into their lives and into the world as they spiral back out and set their offering of light into the growing glow of candles.  (Everything you need will be provided but feel free to bring you own natural earth element to offer into the space if you wish.)

8:15 PM - Discussion of the Solstice season's celebration of the returning light, led by Tina Morin.

8:30 PM Star Gazing under the night sky.  Perhaps you will see the same star the Wise Men saw?

Costs: $15 per person ($30 family maximum)  Pre-registration required.
Snowshoeing Under the Full Moon
January 7, 3:00-10:00PM

SnowshoeingWomen, do you know why you are so drawn to the Moon?  What are Her secrets and how do you relate to Her rhythms and seasons?

Our afternoon workshop will give you some answers, followed by a yummy warming dinner and a guided snowshoe trek out under the silver beauty of the moon's glow .

The Gathering Inn once again teams up with Linda LeBlanc of Active By Nature, Inc. for this our most popular event.

You've Got GUTS!
Reflux, Constipation and Your GI Health
Led by Dr. Esther (Pereault) Roy
January 14, 2012   2:00-6:00PM

Naturopathic doctor, Esther Roy, inspired us at our September potluck dinner when she shared the benefits and value of Naturopathy.  Of all the workshops she offers, the most sought after one was about how to prevent or remedy intestinal and digestive issues.  Esther's workshop will include information, handouts and demonstrations of digestion enhancing foods/herbs/bitter greens/spices, foods low in inflammatory potential, and a discussion of hydrotherapy applications.

Each person attending will be given information at registration about a food to bring (gluten free, vegan, etc.) and we will create and share a digestion friendly dinner at the 5 PM.

Save the date.  Details and costs TBA.  Registration will be required.

OH NO!
Rates increasing in 2012
Book your personal or small group retreat for 2012 before the end of this December and complete your retreat by the end of March 2012 and get the 2011 rates!

Sadly, the cost of everything is going up (electricity, oil,
food) and we have to keep pace.  We also want to continue to meet your specialty dietery needs, however the cost of gluten free, dairy free, vegan ingredients is high so we need to add a small surcharge for those meals onto our food rates starting in 2012.
The Movie Reel has Come to an End
For our die-hard popcorn and movie fans, we are sorry to say that our weekends beginning in January 2012 are filled with Inn events and group retreats and so we are taking a break from our monthly Movie Nights.

A full schedule is good news for the Inn but sad news for those of you who have enjoyed this monthly fun night with us.  Maybe we'll begin again in the Spring.

The Gathering Inn is available for retreat leaders and practitioners to offer their programs.  And of course, don't forget that our primary mission is to provide individual women like YOU a place to retreat from the world, be in stillness and tranquility, and re-connect to your spiritual core.

We can't wait to see you at the Inn!

Sincerely,
The Gathering Inn

Merry's Musings

What lessons does each of us women need to learn in our lifetime?

I am sharing the following piece with you as it says something I deeply believe in far better than if I tried to say it in my own words. I first read this in a newsletter from Greenfire Retreat Center in Maine and it has had much to do with shaping my personal spiritual journey and the mission and purpose of The Gathering Inn.

I hope you find a "Lesson" for yourself somewhere in these words.
