The Gathering Inn Women Helping Women
January 5, 2011
|
Greetings!
Welcome to 2011! How are those resolutions going? Great? Not so great? Well, the Inn is here to help! We can get you moving, get you thinking, get you relaxed and get you away!
We have several lovely events planned for the new year. Four Fabulous Fridays to shoo away the winter blahs in February. A Minute for Me Retreat, because we all deserve that minute but don't always know what to do with it when we finally have it. And Snowshoeing Under the Full Moon for those looking for a bit of adventure.
How many 'lose weight' resolutions out there? Our book group this January will be discussing "Women, Food and God: An Unexpected Path to Almost Everything" which just may be a revelation for you and your relationship to food.
Our Faith Club group, who are still looking for a group name, will continue to delve into faith, beliefs, and traditions. Are you ready to challenge your spiritual understandings?
Maybe you just need a night out with the girls. Join us then in watching "Eat, Pray, Love", which is sure to get us all talking and laughing. Need something quieter? Our monthly potluck and meditation provides a time for splendid reflection.
Get yourself moving after all those holiday meals and check out our yoga offerings. All our practitioners are registered and certified yoga instructors and can help you out in your fitness journey.
Need more? Need to go deeper? Maybe it's time for a personal retreat at the Inn. Our staff is waiting to hear from you so we can help create your special time at the Inn.
So much going on, here and in your life! So, remember to be gentle with yourself in this new year.
Hope to see you soon!

Movie Night
Friday, January 7, 7:00 PM. Eat, Pray, Love"Liz Gilbert (Julia Roberts) is a modern woman on a quest to marvel at and travel the world while rediscovering and reconnecting with her true inner self in Eat Pray Love. At a crossroads after a divorce, Gilbert takes a year-long sabbatical from her job and steps uncharacteristically out of her comfort zone, risking everything to change her life. In her wondrous and exotic travels, she experiences the simple pleasure of nourishment by eating in Italy; the power of prayer in India, and, finally and unexpectedly, the inner peace and balance of love in Bali. Based on an inspiring true story, Eat Pray Love proves that there really is more than one way to let yourself go and see the world." ~ Amazon.com

Faith Club Discussion Thursday, January 20, 6:45 PM
Our most recent discussion of The Faith Club book was lively and intense. Deep matters of beliefs, questions, traditions, doubts, and understandings were explored. This is a group where it is okay to disagree in love, challenge our own long-held beliefs, seek common Truth, and discover what that might mean to YOU, ask the questions you can't ask anywhere else. What is YOUR current understanding of Truth? What tenets or doctrines are foundational for you and what ones can be open? Have those things been changing over the last few years? If so, this might be the group for you.The Faith Club book is only a jumping off place. We hope to have members of many faith communities join us from time to time, new books suggested, free flowing conversation. Be a part of this lively group of seekers.Since we are using The Faith Club only as our starting inspiration, we are looking to rename our discussion group and are asking for your help. Please email us with your suggestions!

Book Discussion

Women, Food and God:An Unexpected Path to Almost Everything by Geneen Roth
"Ms. Roth begins with her most basic concept: The way you eat is inseparable from your core beliefs about being alive. Your relationship with food is an exact mirror of your feelings about love, fear, anger, meaning, transformation and, yes, even God. But it doesn't stop there. Geneen shows how going beyond both the food and feelings takes you deeper into realms of spirit and soul to the bright center of your own life. With penetrating insight and irreverent humor, Roth traces food compulsions from subtle beginnings to unexpected ends. She teaches personal examination, showing readers how to use their relationship with food to discover the fulfillment they long for.Your relationship with food, no matter how conflicted, is the doorway to freedom, says Roth. What you most want to get rid of is itself the doorway to what you want most: the demystification of weight loss and the luminous presence that so many of us call "God."Packed with revelations on every page, this book is a knock-your-socks-off ride to a deeply fulfilling relationship with food, your body...and almost everything else. Women, Food and God is, quite simply, a guide for life." ~ Amazon.com
