The Gathering Inn Women Helping Women
October News

Greetings!
They say the only constant in life is change and the Inn is no exception.
We experienced a great deal of change over the summer and we're taking a moment to thank the wonderful group of dedicated volunteers who completed all sorts of projects to make the Inn a more peaceful and welcoming place.
One of the most visible changes celebrated each Autumn in New England is the Fall Foliage. Due to a last minute cancellation, we have the weekend of October 15th to the 17th available for individual retreats. The perfect time for leaf-peeping! Call the Inn for a reservation or try our new Request An Individual Retreat page on our website. And you can now pay for individual retreats online.
We're talking even more about those less visible inner changes with our discussion of Crossing to Avalon, Breast Cancer and faith.
Interested in the Red Tent Movement? We've got a documentary being filmed at the Inn this month and you can be a part of it!
Don't forget our Monthly Potluck and our Yoga classes, too!
So much happening! Won't you join us?

Giving Thanks
"Gratitude is the memory of the heart." ~ Italian Proverb
With the Fall Equinox behind us, our summer of productive outdoor activities for the Gathering Inn is winding down. We've been blessed with a dedicated group of volunteers who completed, among many projects, painting the exterior of the Inn, the construction and scaping of the Zen Meditation garden, and many improvements of the grounds.
Our heartfelt thanks are extended to: Audrey Kracke-Lambert, Les Lambert, Deb Tambeau, Bob Tambeau, Linda Morse, Heather DiPasquale, Nina Vecchi, Deb Weldon, Merry Cole, and Shari Fife. Your generosity of spirit, time and money is priceless.
Our thanks also to everyone who has made a gift of time this past year to host a guest, weed a garden, cook a meal, lead a meditation, hammer a nail, organize the library (thanks to our Librarian Bev Heath), and a bunch of other really important stuff. A great big thanks to Barbara Leclerc for all her on-going volunteer time with the office needs, especially the hours spent creating two new websites for us and moving our site to a new host, as well as editing and sending out our monthly newsletter. And thanks to Cheryl Thompson who has volunteered daily for two months this fall to keep our director from going nuts!
Our sincerest apologies and regrets for any volunteer unintentionally missed.
Volunteers are the heart of the Gathering Inn. Without them, the Inn would not exist. If you would like to be a volunteer at the Inn, please call us at 978-820-1139 or send us an email.

So,
do you want to be in a movie? Or do you want to experience the women's gatherings called Red Tent Temples, based on the well-known book The Red Tent: A Novel , by Anita Diamant ( www.anitadiamant.com). Large numbers of women have embraced the concepts in that book and begun local Red Tent groups... places where women can go to relax, de-stress, be pampered, and celebrate their womanhood. Filmmaker Isadora Leidenfrost of Soulful Media ( www.soulfulmedia.com or www.redtentmovie.com) is creating Things We Don't Talk About, a groundbreaking documentary film about women's healing narratives from the red tent phenomenon. A portion of that film, using the women of the Red Tent group from Grafton, MA, is being filmed at The Gathering Inn, on Tuesday, October 26th from 7 PM to 10PM. You can also be a part of that experience. (You will need to sign a waiver if you want to participate in the filming.) This is a different type of event for The Gathering Inn but many of you have expressed interest in the Red Tent movement. Contact The Gathering Inn at 978-820-1139 for further information or to let us know you are coming. Space is limited! A minimum donation of $5.00 is suggested to cover the cost of soup, tea, and other goodies. |
Movie Night
There will be no movie in October. Our next movie will be Friday, November 5th.

Book Discussion
Sunday, October 24, 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM Continuation of Crossing to Avalonby Jean Shinoda Bolen This compilation of experiences, thoughts, scholarly research, and, above all, the feelings of a woman at midlife amounts to a revelation.
On pilgrimage to sacred sites including Chartres, Glastonbury, and Iona, Bolen, a physician, Jungian analyst, and professor of clinical psychiatry, traces their histories and significance. She relates these places' earliest uses by societies with earth-based belief systems to the concept of key energy centers all about the globe, and she links her inner journey of the spirit to her physical travels and the primal knowledge of the sacred that women have experienced for thousands of years without naming it.
This quest for the holy grail involves more than a personal transformation; it is, she says, everywoman's secret, potential pathway to the roots of her strength and wisdom.
An essential addition for collections concerned with women's spirituality and goddess worship. ~ Whitney Scott
