ZEN MEDITATION GARDEN HONORING THE WOMEN IN OUR LIVES

As we move forward with the creation of our Zen Meditation Garden, we
want to offer you the opportunity to honor the women who have made a
difference in your life. We will be purchasing landscape plantings,
statuary, perhaps a water feature, bird feeders and bird baths, and other
enhancements. You may wish to make a donation toward one of these items
in memory of a woman who has died, or in honor of someone in your life
today. When the project is finished, there will be a plaque with all
the names of the women we want to remember. Please contact The
Gathering Inn's office by e-mail or phone (978-820-1139) for more
information or to make a contribution.

The Faith Club
June 17th at 7:00pm
We recently studied the book, The
Faith Club: A Muslim, A Christian, A Jew - three Women Search for
Understanding, by Ranya Idliby, Suzanne Oliver, and Priscilla Warner. This book is so rich and The Gathering Inn is the perfect, safe place to
discuss, question, and explore what we each believe and why. Once was
not enough for us. So, we are inviting you do three things: 1) read the
book; 2) come for a discussion on Thursday night, June 17th, at 7:00
PM, and 3) invite your friends, especially those of other faiths, to
join us.
The authors of The Faith Club have established a
formal process to create a Faith Club. After our discussion on June
17th, we will decide if we have enough interest to create a permanent
Faith Club at The Gathering Inn.

Timely Prayer from Chief Arvol Looking Horse
A Great Urgency: To
All World Religious and Spiritual
Leaders
My Relatives,Time has
come to speak to the hearts of our Nations and their Leaders. I ask you
this from the bottom of my heart, to come together from the Spirit of
your Nations in prayer. We, from the
heart of Turtle Island, have a great message for the World; we
are guided to speak from all the White Animals showing their sacred
color,
which have been signs for us to pray for the sacred life of all things.
As
I am sending this message to you, many Animal Nations are being
threatened,
those that swim, those that crawl, those that fly, and the plant
Nations,
eventually all will be affect from the oil disaster in the Gulf. To Read the rest of the prayer, click here.

Ahab's Wife: Or, The Star-Gazer: A Novel
June 27th at 9:30am
Please join us Sunday, June 27th for the continuation of our discussion of Ahab's Wife: Or, The Star-gazer: A Novel by Sena Jeter Naslund. We'll be reading this book throughout the summer. For June we'll be talking about the middle of the book from Chapter 30 (page 173) through Chapter 78 (page 344). This first section of the book is the lyrical saga of a young girl, Una,
growing up on an island with her Aunt, Uncle and cousin. It is not a
quick read but well worth taking it slowly to relish in the rich turn of
phrase in which author Sena
Jeter Naslund is so adept. In her search for the meaning of life, she
ponders spiritual truths (" The truth about the unseen makes little
difference to me. Perhaps we each adopt or create our truth."),
and relationships (" I did not myself have a sister who was a friend
and with whom I could compare myself, the better to understand both my
singularity and our commonality."), and her future (" Is it not
the case that many a life journey starts out in the opposite
direction to its destiny?") Buy the book from Amazon.com and support the Inn. |
