"SISTER'S KEEPER: ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT BRUNCH FOR WOMEN" is an event created to provide an afternoon where women from all walks of life will gather for a time of fellowship. This event was born out of one individual's experience that has become all too common in the present economic climate. Ms Victoria Kageni had enjoyed a well paid position as a Heavy Equipment Operator in the male dominated Demolition industry, for a period of six years.
Although her passion for Demolition consumed her, it was not enough to keep her from becoming a casualty of a lay-off. A young single mother of 4 children of tender years, Ms Kageni was faced with economic despair. Months passed with no clear vision on which path to follow, until her love for fashion called her back to reality. Her journey in reinventing herself, turning her passion into profit, has been her saving grace.
It is in this spirit that Ms Kageni is driven in her effort to encourage women faced with economic turmoil, or experiencing a sudden shift in their lives, that "Sister's Keeper" was born.
"SISTER'S KEEPER: ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT BRUNCH FOR WOMEN", is an annual event aimed at bringing women into a friendly setting to network, hear inspirational and motivational messages, and to gather information about work opportunities from area companies. There is also an opportunity to learn about becoming an entrepreneur.
This year's event will be held at Allentown's premier restaurant SANGRIA, November 21, 2010, 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Speakers are Ngozi Bell, Alicia Keegan, and Dr. Ethel Drayton-Craig.
