LOVING WHO I AM
This past week gave me a lesson on appreciation of my body as a result of an encounter in a retail store. While the person who taught me the lesson stayed on my mind all evening, a friend sent me an announcement of her blog on the Huffington Post whose timing was perfect. My friend, Virginia, came into my Life 33 years ago while we spent the better part of the summer of '77 in an experimental personal growth program. Virginia, a pioneer, owned the best health food restaurant in NYC. A wonderful spirit with wisdom beyond her years, her blog post, "I'm Younger In My Sixties Than I've Ever Been Before" couldn't have resonated with me more after my encounter in the store. Read my blog, "IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER", about my experience. Check out Virginia Bell's blog (click here), for a wonderful view of her Life and its transitions.
For me, one of the best things about getting older is realizing that I don't have all the time left in the world and that's not such a bad thing. I've become aware of what's important and I'm no longer willing to waste my time or energy on nonessential. I hate the word multitasking. It's not that I'm less ambitious, I just don't care about having it all, doing it all or being it all. I want to concentrate on what really matters to me. End of story.

By Mary Oliver
Everyone should be born happy
and loving everything.
But in truth it rarely works that way.
For myself, I have spent my life clamoring toward it.
Halleluiah, anyway I'm not where I started!
And have you too been trudging like that, sometimes
almost forgetting how wondrous the world is
and how miraculously kind some people can be?
And have you too decided that probably nothing important
is every easy?
Not, say, for the first sixty years.
Halleluiah, I'm sixty now, and even a little more,
and some days I feel I have wings.
