...the birds of the air can perch in its shade. Mark 4:30-32

Greetings!

"Hello" and "Thank You" for subscribing to our e-newsletter!

I hope this newsletter finds you doing well and soaking up the warmth of God's love in spite of the cold weather we are experiencing!  For us, winter is a very slow time and I have a lot of flexibility in my work schedule, sometimes only peeking into the office several times a week to see if the dust has gotten any thicker...yes, it has, but I promise we will vacuum it up before you come visit this spring!

One of the best parts of my winter flexibility, however, is that I can take on additional Bible studies and spend more time learning about God and, hopefully, allowing Him to refine me and make me a better servant, husband, father, employer and steward of all He has given.

This winter I am doing the study of Isaiah in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) and taking a course called Perspectives on the World Christian Movement.  I am absolutely loving both studies and they are forcing me to spend 15-20 hours per week reading my Bible, a multitude of commentaries, and even taking a test each week to evaluate my progress.  Although I feel a bit overwhelmed at times, I can't imagine a better way to spend my time than learning more about God!

With all that said, I wanted to mention something I heard a woman say about two months ago and I have pondered since the moment the words touched my ears.  It is helpful to know that the woman does not believe in God, she is an atheist or agnostic and perhaps both.   Her comment was this, "why do Christians always try to spread their beliefs to others?  Why can't they just leave everyone else alone?"

Since hearing those words, I have been searching out an answer, sometimes wrestling with God and I seek to know His answer to those questions so that I can follow Him in obedience, aligning my heart and mind with His, rather than seeking to conform Him to me.

In next month's greeting, I will share my humble opinion of what I think God is saying to me...

Until then, May God Bless you and your family and may He use you mightily to be His voice of salvation to the nations!

With his love,

Mark D. Halla

Steward

Plan Your Vegetable Gardens Now
This winter has made most of us wonder why we live here. Lilacs do require the cold to make the beautiful blooms that welcome spring, which is closer than we know as the Chickadees have started their spring "Chick-a-dee-dee-dee".
It is also the best time to design the vegetable garden and plan new outdoor projects. Once spring hits, we are all so excited to get outside that we don't always end up with the best design or a well balanced mix of bloom for the whole season. Come out to The Mustard Seed and let us help you get those ideas flowing or setup for installation as soon as the weather turns.

So stop on out or give us a call today!
To meet with a designer and get those green thoughts flowing please call ahead. 952-361-9954.

Wind TurbineIf you have stopped by the garden center this winter, you couldn't have missed the new steel tower just out the back door. This is our new wind turbine that will start producing enough power to run the Mustard Seed and give some back to the community in the spring.

Don't miss our Turbine Commissioning on Thursday, April 14, 2011.

We will host the SW Metro Chamber Business "After Hours" from 4:30-6 PM and have a Q & A session on renewable energy from 3-4:30 PM led by Shawn Dooling of Rewnewable Energy SD.

Crew Spotlight : Night Lighting

Nightscaping

Night lighting adds another dimension to the garden and it is the best way to enjoy the yard when the sun is going down at 4pm. If you have wanted to add a new touch to your place and some value, but don't know where to start, nightscaping is great because it can be added to the front walk, some trees, along the house or throughout the whole yard. As certified luminologists, out crew will be your one stop shop for installation and education for you to enjoy your landscape at night just as much during the day!
