Water Fall

Greetings!

"Hello" and "Thank You" for subscribing to our e-newsletter!

As I write this greeting, I can't help but reflect upon Father's Day and a recent experience I had at the Garden Center.

As I walked around with our customers, a young married couple with a newborn son, the man lifted up his son in both hands and gazed into his boys face, cooing and smiling, giggling and teasing.  The baby responded with a sweet smile and cute little noises that cannot be described by words...if you are a parent, you know what I mean!

It was such a simple and normal act of fatherhood, but I was surprised by my response.  I had to turn away as tears flooded my eyes and I reflected upon the relationship before me...the father was so proud of his boy and I imagined that there is nothing the boy will ever do that will cause his dad not to love him unconditionally...the boy was safe and secure and had no worries for his future, all was well with his soul!!!

My mind quickly turned to our Daddy in heaven and I imagined Him holding me, and you and all of His children, in the palm of His mighty hand, cooing and smiling and pleased with His creation.  I reflected upon His unconditional love for us and the fact that there is nothing, absolutely nothing that can separate us from the Father's love, it is truly unconditional!

Sometimes I break fellowship with God through my sin, but it is so comforting to know that no matter what I do, He will continue to love me into repentance and welcome me back into His arms; a place of love and acceptance, affirmation and consolation, safety and peace...when I reflect on the Love of God for me, all is well with my soul.

This day, I pray that you, also, will reflect upon God's love for you.  He created you, He adores you, and He wants to spend eternity with you.

He is the only perfect Father, He is your Father, and, if you haven't already done so, let Him adopt you today...if you aren't sure how, please contact me or any other Christian and we can help you.

God Bless You,
Mark Halla

Feature: Water Gardening

Water Gardening
Water gardening can create a beautiful active or passive landscape depending on the type and size of the feature. The most common types of passive spaces include deep and shallow ponds. If you wish to hear the water, a water fall or stream is a great addition that can work into just about any type of space. The first type is to add a falls or two to a pond like the one at the Mustard Seed. The second option is to add what is called a pondless waterfall where the water cycles over a series of waterfalls depending on the space from a reservoir at the bottom to one at the top. The best part of the pondless options is you get all the great features of water rushing over rock without the hassle of cleaning out a pond every spring.

The third type of water feature is to add a structure like a bubbling rock, water fountain or basalt columns on top of a reservoir.

In addition to the type and look of the water feature, fish and plants create an additional layer of interest. The easiest fish to add to a pond are Goldfish. If you want to try the really cool big ones, there are Comets, Koi and Shubunkin.

Just like gardening in the soil, water plants can vary from perennials along the edge like Marsh Marigold, Arrowhead, Bull Rush, Cardinal Flower and Lizard's Tail to annuals that sit in the water or float. With our winters though, fish and annual water plants do need to be taken to a warmer location once it starts to get cold, unless the pond is more than two feet deep, which allows the fish to survive.

It's hard to believe July is already here, but luckily that means it is almost time for Family Fun Days! The fun will be on July 17th and 18th from 11am-3pm with activities that include carnival games, an inflated play house to bounce off some energy and face painting. The Carver Scott Humane Society will also be serving dogs for dogs to raise money for their work.

If you have been thinking about doing some landscaping and haven't gotten around to it, come on down to the fun as everything will be 25% off and designers will be around to answer questions and setup appointments

Crew Spotlight
Water fall Pond and Putting GreenCustom Water Feature
This project began when a client asked us to give them a competitive bid on a water feature.  We bid the work exactly as the other company had planned to do it and we were almost 30% less expensive.  Unfortunately, we refused to do the work as originally planned by the other company due to structural and design inadequacies.  Amongst other things, the pump was too small, the liner was too thin, the waterfall pipe was undersized, and the design lacked creativity, failing to take full advantage of the opportunity to turn a backyard hill into a backyard living room.

Once we explained this to the customer, they asked us to draw a revised design and give them a new bid.  We did so and they blessed us with their business.

The end result was one large waterfall that splits into two streams with an island "putting green" between them.  When the streams come together they create a crashing rapids dumping into a placid koi pond large enough to swim in.

The final feature was a small and intimate flagstone patio nestled into the hill that overlooks the streams and "putting green" where the homeowner can relax after a hard days work while they listen to the waterfalls, gaze at the fish or take a chip shot onto the island!
