Issue 4
...the birds of the air can perch in its shade. Mark 4:30-32

Greetings!

"Hello" and "Thank You" for subscribing to our e-newsletter!

This month I have Good news and I have GREAT news....

Last year was, simply put, was an adventure!  We began with a flurry of activity with our sales up over 40%, and then, suddenly, it was if the spigot turned off and we were left wondering where our customers had gone.  Our emotions were up and down like a roller coaster and there were times when we worried about our physical and emotional health.  I give my thanks to God and lots of supporters and friends along the way because, not only did we survive, we thrived!  We have learned about trusting God in all the details, we have soaked up His unconditional love and we have come to know Jesus as not only as our "bread and water of life", but also as our "bread of adversity and water of affliction".  In the midst of great difficulty, He was true to His word to never leave us nor forsake us, but rather, He rescued us instead, lavishing His love upon us and breathing His life into us anew.  I am thankful for last year in the sense that God did not allow us to be broken but sharpened us instead...I trust that He will now use us to help others in similar situations and I look forward to the journey ahead.

The Good news is that we survived last year and we made it to spring.  We praise God for His provision!
Having just celebrated Easter, I must boldly proclaim that Jesus Christ is King of Kings and Lord of Lords, that His Kingdom will never end, that He died in our place and defeated death once for all, that He rose again in victory and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father until He comes again to judge the living and the dead in perfect righteousness.  I praise God that, as stated in Titus 3:5-6, "He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy.  He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior!"

The GREAT news is that JESUS CHRIST IS RISEN!!!

It is in His name that I wish you a "Happy Spring" filled with Joy and Peace and Love!

Sincerely,
Mark Halla

The Buzz

Do you hear the "buzz"?

With the melting of the snow we instantly get more of a buzz going on at the garden center.  Most of the" buzz" is people stopping in to stretch their legs, pick up some seeds and pick away at their cabin fever.  Although we already have a lot of plants available, we have more semi-loads on their way and they we should be fully stocked by early May.

Soon we will have an even bigger "buzz" going on, the arrival of our new hive of bees for our observation hive
Observation Beehive
Honey Bees
as well as a multitude of new hives out back so we can produce even more honey this year.  Last year, we sold nearly every drop of honey the bees could produce, so this year we plan to bring in some reinforcements so as not to work our little friends too hard!  They will ship when weather permits as they don't like the cold any more than we do.  We'll post on our Facebook page when they get here.

As you fill up your calendars with all the spring school activities and outings, don't forget to mark down our Spring Ladies Night Out.  It's Thursday, April 29th, from 6-9pm.  It's a free event with an array of unique vendors, samples, sales, snacks and of course, wine, lots of tasty samples of wine!  Last fall, our Ladies Night was so successful, we hardly had enough room for parking, so we've made some adjustments and this spring's event will be even better!  Hope to see ya there!!!

Spring Pond Clean Out

Early spring, before your water garden completely awakens from its winter
dormancy, is the best time of the year to perform a pond clean-out. Ideally, the cleaning should take place before the water temperature in the pond gets above 55° F. If a cleaning is performed after bacteria colonies form, the ecosystem will be thrown out of whack, and your pond will go through another "green phase" before your bacteria colonies re-establish themselves again. The process of cleaning out the pond is fairly easy and can usually be done in less than one day. Be prepared, however, because it's a messy, smelly job! If you don't feel up to the task or you don't have the time, we can come out and do it for you. For your convenience, below you can read more on the steps involved in a spring cleaning as well as the materials needed. Please feel free to
call The Mustard Seed at 952.361.9954 to answer any of your questions or stop
by to purchase your pond supplies, fish or plants.
