Greetings!
"Hello" and "Thank You" for subscribing to our e-newsletter! As I write this greeting, the snow is melting at a feverish rate, there is mud beginning to appear everywhere, and the roads are beginning their annual heave as the frost begins to leave the ground. I look forward to seeing many of you very soon and I hope you enjoy some of the many changes we've made this winter at the garden center. I think you will be pleased with the new layout and the expanded offerings! Although I have waited anxiously for spring to arrive, I must confess that the closer it gets, the further behind I can sometimes feel. It can be an overwhelming time of year for us as we seem to go from absolutely no business to more than we can possibly handle in just a matter of weeks. I'm not complaining, just recognizing a pattern. This winter I have focused a lot on patterns. During our remodeling at home and at the garden center, I have looked at plaids, batiks, paint colors, wall papers and flooring samples. I now know that there are actually over 1 million shades of white paint alone. Who would have ever thought such a thing? I still can't see the difference in them, however! The most important pattern I focused on this winter, though, was in regard to my relationship with Jesus. I have realized a simple pattern; the more time I spend with Him, the more Scripture I memorize, the more I serve others in His name, the happier I am... regardless of my circumstances. So, no matter how hard life gets for me this year, I'm going to let go and I'm going to let God take care of the details...I'm going to be joyful always, because I'm going to pray continually, and I'm going to give thanks in all circumstances... because that is what God wants me to do. Will you join me? Happy March! Mark Halla Steward

| As you sow, so shall you reap!
Are you getting the urge to get your fingers in the dirt and put that "green thumb" back to work? Although it's too early to haul the rototiller out to the garden, it's not too early to start some seeds inside! Many vegetable, herb and flower seeds can be planted inside and then transplanted outside when the garden soil begins to warm. Broccoli, cauliflower, peppers and tomatoes are just a few of the vegetables that can be started inside. Stop into the Mustard Seed Garden Center to pick up your supplies and a "When-to-Plant-What" chart. You'll find a wide selection of flower and vegetable seeds, including certified organic seeds! One of the most compact and tidiest methods you can use to plant the seeds is a 72-cell greenhouse kit. The kits are just 11 inches wide and 22 inches long. They have 72 individual cells complete with "Fiber Grow" growing mix and a clear cover to help retain moisture and heat. Once you have your supplies, just clear a space in your home in front of a sunny window (southern exposure is best) and get your fingers ready. (You may want to do a few finger stretches to wake them up after a long winter of hibernating in mittens.) In each cell of the greenhouse kit is a soil pellet. When you add water, the pellets expand to fill the cells. Once the pellets have expanded, just plant the seeds, cover the tray of cells with the dome and off you "grow"! Regularly check the cells for adequate moisture as the seeds germinate. You may find that some of the plants, such as tomatoes, may need to be transplanted into a larger container before being planted outside. When it's time, lift the seedling and soil out of the cell and transplant it into one of our two and a half or three-inch biodegradable pots using some additional bulk growing mix. Finally, when the outdoor soil has warmed up, transplant the biodegradable pot directly into the garden and start anticipating a flavor-filled salad!

Graduation sneaking up on you?
You're not alone! Although we all have approximately 18 years to plan for our children's High School graduation, most of us wait until the last minute before we prepare our homes and yards to entertain perhaps hundreds of friends and family.
Roughly 80% of our clients "forget" about their upcoming graduation celebration until it's nearly upon them, sometimes allowing less than one month to build that new patio or fire pit, gazebo or deck. With the stress and expense that seems to come naturally when we prepare for such special occasions, may we suggest you start planning 2-3 years in advance?
Whether you are a do-it-yourselfer or totally hands off, whether you have 4 weeks or 4 years, we are happy to help in any way we can. Having gone through a graduation party ourselves, and guilty of waiting to plan until the last moment, we have the empathy and experience required to meet your needs, your budget and your time frame. Congratulations and Good Luck!
