STC Helps MedcoAR Phoenix 2010
Assure EHS Compliance
STC has been working with Medco Health Solutions since its spin-off from Merck in 2003, when the pharmacy benefits management leader selected STC to help develop and implement its EHS compliance and management systems audit program. Since then, STC has helped Medco conduct more than 40 EHS audits and has provided both classroom and in-the-field auditor training to Medco staff. Recently, STC provided a series of webinars designed to help Medco EHS staff understand and assure compliance with key programs such as electrical safety and pharmaceutical waste management. Medco's EHS performance has continued to improve steadily and the company has received excellent reports on compliance from agency inspectors.

TAEP

Curt Johnson, STC - Houston, is co-chairing the Gulf Coast 2010 Environmental Challenges and Innovations Conference presented by the Texas Association of Environmental Professionals.  To be held Thursday, February 11, 2010, in Houston, Texas, this one-day event will provide a forum for environmental professionals in industry, consulting/service companies, government and academia to share technical presentations with their peers.

Five concurrent sessions will be offered addressing environmental topics from air to wetlands.  An Ethics session will be offered as well as a number of workshops offering in-depth coverage of subjects like NEPA, Vapor Intrusion, TRPP Release Determination and Sustainability in the Maritime Industry.  Carlos Rubinstein, the newest Commissioner for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality will provide the keynote address.  During the luncheon, TAEP will present their awards for Environmental Professional of the Year and Regulator of the Year.

The TAEP has a close association with local universities and selected students are presenting poster sessions concerning their research.  Proceeds from a Silent Auction will go towards TAEP's scholarship fund.  Mr. Johnson points out that "After the success of last year's event with over 300 participants and more than 40 exhibitors, we believe that the conference will once again be well-attended by the environmental community that it is designed to benefit."
