What Are Your Kids Doing This Summer?

Kidz LogoKeep your kids from becoming couch potatoes this summer! The TriColumbia Kidz Triathlon will once again be part of the Maryland Youth Triathlon Series, the first and only of its kind youth triathlon series in Maryland, promoting sun-safe practices, encouraging healthy lifestyle choices through multisport, and showing kids that winning is finishing what you start! There are 2 of the 4 events still remaining this summer.

If you are participating in the TriColumbia Kidz Triathlon, be sure to visit TriColumbia's Official Bike Support Shop, Princeton Sports to have your free and mandatory bike inspection done.

MYTS logoKids, come get your swim, bike and run on! With all MYTS Series youth triathlons within an hour of each other, there has never been a better time to try a triathlon - or add a second, third or fourth to your race calendar! All children completing two or more Maryland Youth Triathlon Series events will receive a certificate of recognition from the State of Maryland. Do three or more and get a sun safe MYTS hat. Receive an entry for each race completed to win a cool raffle prize worth $40. The more events you complete, the better your chances and the more fit you become! Individual event registrations are now open and space is limited, so sign up now. See you at the finish line!

Kids participating in series events have the unique opportunity to raise awareness and funds for the Joanna M. Nicolay Melanoma Foundation, through personal fundraising made easy by creating their very own online fundraising page. There are some great incentive gifts built in.  By recruiting donors, fundraisers are able to earn baseball tickets for the Frederick Keys, Bowie Baysox or Aberdeen Ironbirds AND with a little extra effort, a $50 Dicks Sporting Goods gift certificate or family sun-shade canopy!

Support Make-A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic By Participating in the ChesapeakeMan Endurance Festival This September

Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic logoWe are delighted to announce that this year the annual Make-A-Wish Triathlon now in its 29th year, will be held in partnership with the TriColumbia ChesapeakeMan Endurance Festival. All funds raised by Make-A-Wish competitors will directly support granting wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions in Maryland, Delaware, Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia.

ChesapeakeMan Endurance Festival LogoThe ChesapeakeMan Endurance Festival includes four top shelf events for all skill levels, including the ChesapeakeMan Ultra,  AquaVelo, Skipjack 75.2, or TriColumbia's brand new Bugeye Intermediate Distance Triathlon.

This year the Bugeye Classic is one of the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Triathlon Conference races. The 2012-13 MACTC series will serve as qualification for the 2013 Collegiate Nationals in April. Teams will compete in at least two series races and the MACTC Championship at Rev3 Half Full in order to earn Nationals slots.  In 2012, the U.S. Naval Academy's men and the University of Virginia's women were the conference's top-qualifying teams.

Triathlon Magazine's March 2010 issue named the ChesapeakeMan Ultra Distance event a "140.6 Best Race," and The Ultra Distance event is the USAT Mid Atlantic Championship Ultra Distance race. Utilizing portions of TriColumbia's world-renown Ironman 70.3 EagleMan course, the festival takes place on September 29th, when the summer temperatures are easing.  All events are still open for registration; so don't miss this gem of an endurance festival, and come experience what everyone is raving about!
