  Greetings!

The 2012 EnduraFit Ironman 70.3 EagleMan Triathlon and EagleMan AquaVelo is just 3 days away on June 10, 2012. This year's race promises to be another great, world-class event, packed full of a stellar field of Pros and amateurs from around the world and loads of excitement.

Please join us for the 2012 EagleMan Pro Forum on Saturday at 2:30 pm at Sailwinds Park featuring Mirinda Carfrae, (2010 Ironman World Champion and 2009 & 2011 EagleMan Champion), TJ Tollakson (2007 & 2011 Ironman 70.3 EagleMan Champion), as well as 3 - time Ironman World Champion Craig "Crowie" Alexander.  2012 Ironman New Zealand and  Ironman St. George Champion, Meredith Kessler will be joining in too. If family or friends will be at the park with you, and would like to spend some of their time helping out while you're racing, we would appreciate their assistance. It's a fun way to pass the time.  Please email us to let us know of your interest to volunteer.

Please read the important information in this email, and remember to download the 2012 EnduraFit Ironman 70.3 EagleMan Athlete's Guide (located under "Key Race Info") and other resources located on the EnduraFit Ironman 70.3 EagleMan Triathlon webpage to address questions or concerns you may have.

Wetsuit Usage

The new WTC wetsuit temperature rule is in effect; no wetsuits are allowed above 76.1 degree F. Those choosing to wear wetsuits in water temperatures from 76.2 to 83.8 degrees F will NOT be eligible for awards or Ironman slots, and will be taken out of their age group swim wave, and put into a special wetsuit wave which will be the last wave to go into the water. The USAT rules indicate that wetsuits may be used between 78.1 and 83.8 degrees F, however as stated above, those using wetsuits in water that is above 76.2 degrees F are not eligible for awards or Ironman slots. Wetsuits will not be allowed at all in water temperatures over 83.8 degrees F. Please be advised that wetsuit use in water temperatures above 78.1 degrees F for a lengthy swim such as 1.2 miles, may pose a significant danger of hyperthermia. Please think carefully before deciding to use a wetsuit in warmer water. Wetsuit usage is allowed and encouraged for amateurs where the water temperature is 76.1 degrees F or lower.

The water temperature as of 6/6/12 at 7 AM was 74.7'F.

Please Respect The Area And Thank Our Volunteers

PLEASE respect both the environment and the areas that this event travels through.  Do not drop trash anywhere other than aid stations and use the portable toilets, not the neighborhoods. Dorchester County and Columbia Triathlon Association take pride in the designation of Great Marsh Park and Blackwater Wildlife Refuge as "leave no trace" spaces.  Help us to maintain these special facilities. We encourage you to use trash receptacles and to take your trash with you when you leave the park in order to protect the environment.

Remember, the use of profanity or disrespect of any staff, volunteers or other officials who are there to assist you can be grounds for a USAT official to disqualify you - this includes packet pick up and the bike racking stages.

And don't forget to thank the many enthusiastic volunteers stationed throughout the race course and venue.  Our volunteers are comprised of many charity and community groups as well as individuals who simply enjoy helping out. We would be unable to provide events such as this one without their capable assistance! If you would like to help out with this or any of our other events, simply visit our website and let us know.

Thank you for your cooperation!
