Congratulations and Thanks for Racing with TriColumbia!

  Greetings!

Thank you for racing with TriColumbia in the Inaugural 2012 Athleta Iron Girl Columbia Half Marathon or Coed 5K. Your journey began many months ago, when you took the challenge to train to accomplish something great, and culminated in crossing the finish line! The weather cooperated with an abundance of sunshine and comfortable temperatures. We hope you enjoyed the race, post race festivities and massage, and that you succeeded in reaching your personal goals; creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Congratulations to all our winners. 25 year-old Askale Merachi of Washington D.C. was the top half marathon finisher with a time of 1:17:06. Merachi took home a cash prize of $1,800.  Rounding out the top five half marathon finishers were: 2) Hirut Mandefro (26, Washington, DC), time: 1:19:18, prize $1,100; 3) Heather McWhirter (34, Glenwood, NY), time: 1:21:33, prize: $900; 4) Megan McNew (33, Baltimore, MD), time: 1:23:53, prize: $700; 5) Line Lauritsen (29, McHenry, MD) time: 1:24:06, prize: $500.

In addition to the half marathon, nearly 500 men and women competed in the Coed 5K. 38 year-old Cliff Franz of Silver Spring, Md. was the top 5K male finisher with a time of 18:42, and 40 year-old Norah MacPhee of Columbia, Md. was the top 5K female finisher with a time of 22:13.

In racing with TriColumbia, you have not only shown your commitment to life-long health and fitness, but you have helped us further our mission of improving the lives of individuals in need by supporting local and regional charities.

We are pleased to report that in addition to TriColumbia's direct donation of $25,000 to the Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center, many charity teams raised thousands of dollars for their causes. For example, Team in Training raised over $45,000 through fundraising associated with this inaugural event.

Together, we continue to impact those in need!  Thank you!!

Celebrate Life!
