TriColumbia Kidz Triathlon
Greetings!
Welcome to the TriColumbia Kidz Triathlon. Your race day is almost here!
We are so
excited that you will be coming to the triathlon on Sunday the 25th of July. It
will be a great experience and a ton of fun!
Always remember to "tri" is fun and possible for all, and winning is finishing what you start!

Race Location, Date and Parking:
Race
Location: Clemens Crossing Pool in Hickory Ridge Village
on Martin Road and Clemens Crossing Elementary School grounds in
Columbia,
Maryland
Race Date: Sunday, July 25, 2010
Race Day
Parking: Parking is to take place in the
adjacent 7th Day Adventist Chesapeake Conference Center at the corner of Martin
Rd. and Quarterstaff Rd. Look for the signs. Note the lots are to the right
driving in; parking behind the church is prohibited. Please respect the
church's request. The church is letting us use the lot for the conference
center only and in front of the church proper, where there are 15 slots but we
cannot use the back lot where the school is as there will be church service on
Sunday morning. There is NO
parking on the west side of Martin Rd. from Audubon to Quarterstaff Rd. and no
parking on Quarterstaff Rd. where the bike portion of the event takes place.
You may park on Martin Rd down past the Church entrance. Other side streets are
open to use as you see fit. Please be respectful of the neighbors.
Directions to the School and Pool Site: From RT 29, N/S in Howard County: Take exit 17, Seneca Drive/Shaker
Drive. If coming from the North, go right at the end of the exit. At the
Stop sign turn right onto Martin Rd. The school and race day parking is
1/4 mile down the street. If coming from the South, bear right after
taking the exit, and at the Stop sign turn right onto the overpass
bridge (Seneca Drive), down to the Stop sign. Go right onto Martin Rd.,
and proceed as above.

MANDATORY Packet Pickup and
Check-In

Parent/Guardian MUST accompany you to pick up your packet. All pre-registered children
must attend packet pickup in person
(with a parent/guardian) due to insurance and safety purposes. At this time,
you will be issued a unique wrist band which will be affixed and is to be worn
through to the end of the race on Sunday.
Each child participating in the
Kidz Triathlon must be a USAT member, and each participant will
be required to show proof of an annual USAT membership. It is
recommended that you go to USAT for Youths and obtain a one-year
youth membership prior to the race. Each parent must present
photo ID and their child's USAT membership
card.

This meeting will go over important race
information and answer any questions you may have about the race. This meeting is mandatory.

Pre Event Bike and Helmet Checks:
All entrants may bring in their bikes to Princeton Sports in Columbia, the
Official Bike Support Team and receive a free safety check. All bikes must be
in sound working order. Princeton Sports will also be at RoadRunner Sports during packet pickup on Friday and Saturday, and at bike racking on Sunday
morning, to check bikes and helmets. All bike helmets must be CPSC approved (look inside the helmet if
unsure). This is a USAT rule and insurance requirement. The head/brain is your
most important possession, and it must be protected at all times while on the
bike.
If you do not have an approved bike helmet your child will not be
permitted to participate. No exceptions.

Sunday -- The BIG
Moment!
Sunday, July 25, 2010: 6:30am - 8:00am - Bike Racking 8:30am - Ages 13-15 start 8:45am - Ages 11-12 start 9:00am - Ages 9-10 start 9:15am - Ages 7-8 start *Start times are approximate - Participants start in waves
based upon their age.
Bike Racking and setting up
your transition area will take place from 6:30-8:00am. After that, the
first wave of triathletes will enter the pool. You will be given a colored
swim cap when you pickup your packet and you must wear this on race day.
All the people in your wave will have the same cap color as you.
After you finish the swim,
you will go into the transition area, put on your helmet, get your bike and
walk/run out of transition. Please wait to get on your bike until a
volunteer tells you it's OK. Be careful on the bike course, and always
stay to your right hand side. There will be people at the turns telling
you which direction to go. There are bike maps and bike directions posted
on the website.
As you finish the bike, a
volunteer will tell you when to get off (dismount) and you will walk/run your
bike back into the transition area. You will then run out of transition
and complete the run course.
When you cross the finish
line you will receive a custom finishers medal and hear the cheers of all the
people who are so proud of you for completing the triathlon. Congratulations,
you are a Winner!
