2010 Event Schedule
April 25, 2010 - TriColumbia LIFEfest - Half Marathon, Half Marathon Relay & 5K Runs PLUS 100K, 75K & 55K Bike Rides. All had a great time. Join us for next year's LIFEfest. BONUS Under Armor shirts for all registrants
September 25, 2010 - ChesapeakeMan Endurance Festival - General Registration is still open for all races - the full iron distance, the aqua velo, the swimfest and the *NEW* Skipjack.

The Columbia Triathlon Promises World Class Competition The Columbia Triathlon, one of the most challenging Triathlons in the USA is set to take place on May 23, 2010 and the field is full of world class champion challengers. This year's event is headlined in the mens division by two time back-to-back Ironman Hawaii World Champion 2002 & 2001, and 2002 Eagleman Champion, Tim DeBoom of CO. DeBoom has several top 5 Ironman & 70.3 finishes and is the '94 Triathlon Magazine Amateur Athlete of the Year. Tim's last and only appearance at the Columbia Triathlon was in 1994, when as a relative unknown amateur athlete, he captured the overall title which served as the USAT national age group championship. Also competing is the young, up and coming Team Trek/K Swiss member, Andrew Yoder from PA who placed 2nd in the 2009 Columbia Triathlon to Terenzo Bozzonne and 2nd to Chris Lieto in 2008. Other notable contenders set to compete include Greg Remaly '07 Columbia Triathlon champion, Mike Caiazzo a regular top 5 finisher at EagleMan Ironman 70.3, Greg Reznich, Dan MacKenzie, Holden Comeau, Eric Limkemann, Chris Ganter, Jimmy Archer, Matt Wisthoff, James Hadley, and Patrice Hamelin, Canadian ITU triathlete. The ladies field is equally star studded including women's course record holder, two time Columbia Triathlon champion and defending champ Rebeccah Wassner racing for Team Fight, and the UCF, her twin sister Laurel Wassner - 3rd place at CT '09 and 6th place at EagleMan '09, Natascha Badmann- 6- time Ironman World Champion, Team USA member Margie Shapiro of VA. Also contending are local favorites and champions in their own right, Desiree Ficker, and Amanda Lovato. Other female Columbia Tri challengers include Angela Axmann, Jenny Fletcher KSwiss Professional Triathlete, and Manon Le'Tourneau Canadian ITU triathlete.

Mandatory Bike Safety Checks for Celebration & Aflac Iron Girl Triathlons Available NOW
Don't wait until the day before the race to have your mandatory bike safety check done for the Celebration Triathlon and the Aflac Iron Girl Triathlon. Princeton Sports, 10730 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia, MD 21044 is now checking all major bike components in the store to help ensure a safe bike leg.
So avoid the crowd; stop in, get checked and cross that off the list of things to do before race day.

Team Embrace Supports The Arc of Howard County Team Embrace, founded in 2009, is a dedicated team of athletes racing to raise funds and awareness, inspire respect and effect change for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities served by The Arc of Howard County. The Arc of Howard County is a local non-profit whose mission is "achieving full community life for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities - one person at a time." The Arc provides programs and services including: Employment, Family and Individual Support, Respite Care, Residential, Day Program, and Supported Retirement. The Columbia Triathlon Association generously supports Team Embrace and members receive priority race slots, training support, custom tri-suits and enjoy the camaraderie and support of members.  Athlete In Focus: EagleMan Ironman 70.3, Cambridge, Maryland
Tom Kramer of Malvern, PA plans to compete in 4 endurance events in only 120 days; among them the EagleMan Ironman 70.3 in Cambridge, Maryland. Tom is racing in support of those battling blood cancers and hopes to raise awareness of Be The Match Foundation and increase the Be The Match Registry of bone marrow donors. Tom's passion to help is founded in the struggle his wife, Pam, has faced as she battles a bone marrow disorder. In addition to the EagleMan Ironman 70.3, Tom ran the Paris Marathon and will compete in the Ironman USA in Lake Placid and the Ironman Timberman 70.3 in New Hampshire.

EagleMan Ironman 70.3 Star Studded Line Up The 2010 EagleMan Ironman 70.3 will be a race to remember and is packed with power. This highly competitive Professional field is shaping up with Terenzo Bozzone last year's mens champion, Chris Legh '06 champion, Mike Caiazzo, Alex McDonald, Paul Fritzsche, David Kahn, James Cotter, Desiree Ficker, Natascha Badmann, Samantha Warriner, Heather Leiggi, Danielle Sullivan.

Ironman had amended rules for the 2011 season which are effective September 1, 2010. Ironman has announced modifications to several rules and regulations relating to the swim at U.S. races. The amendments were made to further standardize rules in the Ironman/70.3 Series and ensure a fair playing field at events around the globe.

CTA Event Participants Receive $100 Discount For Specialized Body Geometry Bike Fits The Body Geometry Bike Fit System was designed by Dr. Andrew Pruitt and Specialized Bicycles. Princeton Sports in Columbia, MD has three managers that are trained, certified,and proficient in the Specialized Body Geometry Fit System. 2010 Aflac Iron Girl
Columbia Training News
The 2010 training rides take place every Tuesday at 6pm and
6:15pm from Folly Quarter Middle School at 13500 Tridelphia
Road. The route is
10.4 miles and follows along part of the Columbia Triathlon
training route. Thanks to CTA staff and to Princeton Sports and the BAHC group for their
input and support of these rides. Rain
will cancel the rides.
Mark your calendars for July 30, 2010 for the Aflac Iron Girl Columbia Dress Rehearsal where you can practice your swim in the lake, and your run on the actual course (some
people cycle on their own). The practice event is free to all pre-registered and pre-paid participants courtesy of CTA. It is a great opportunity to listen to speakers concerning the race,
setting up in the transition area and to obtain answers to overall questions that
you may have.
