A Message from United Way's President & CEO
Brian D. Hercules
Your United Way staff feels that our community has a tremendous reason to celebrate. We achieved $2.6 million, which will be able to provide many services in the community. While we know we are not going to be able to meet the entire request, we have a great group of volunteers gearing up to make these hard decisions. Stephanie Patton, Director of Community Impact, and John McLaughlin have over 80 volunteers trained and ready to go to work.
The campaign committee led by Pat Murphy, General Mills, and Carolyn Tumbleson, Director of Resource Development at United Way, guided the 2010 Campaign to a double digit increase, which in this economy is an unheard of success. Carolyn is already meeting with the 2011 Campaign Committee to plan for the 2011 campaign. Your staff is committed to meeting the needs of the community with an emphasis on accountability and efficiency.
As we think about the Community Celebration and all the winners this year, we thank everyone who made the 2010 campaign a success. Although we celebrated the success of individual campaigns, the real winner is this community.
The Community Celebration this year was sold out with an attendance of 500 people. Because of generous donations from local businesses and individuals, not one donor dollar was spent on the event.
As you can see there is not a dull moment at your United Way, and we thank you for your continued support. There is always a place for you to be involved with United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties. Please join us as we strive to continuously "Live United!" __________________________________________________________ |

Mark your calendars for United Way's Days of Action. This year, the event will be a partnership with Middle Tennessee State University's "The Big Event." United Way is expecting almost double the amount of volunteers for the event with the new partnership. Sponsors are still needed.
