A Message from 2011 Chairman of the Board Andrew Oppmann
Friends,
I hope you share my excitement and anticipation of the New Year for our United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties. We're wrapping up a remarkable campaign season, led by Pat Murphy of General Mills, and preparing for a community celebration on February 22, 2011 to recognize the hard work, service and results from 2010. And we're poised to help our partner agencies meet the needs of our counties and communities in the coming year.
I'd like to thank my predecessor, Don Clayton of Ingram Books, for his service to our United Way. And we welcome our incoming board members, committee chairs and officers for what promises to be a productive and meaningful year for our organization.
Finally, a tip of the hat to Brian Hercules and his terrific team of dedicated professionals, whose energy and focus in 2010 will allow us to help our partners continue, and perhaps step up, their good works in Rutherford and Cannon counties.
Here's to a great 2011!
Andrew Oppmann

Target Tree Give Away
When grandmother of three and Murfreesboro resident Phyllis Davenport was not able to purchase a holiday tree this year, Target and United Way teamed up to provide her family with a decorated tree just in time for the season.
The donation came through Target's Share-A-Tree program. From December 18-22, Target stores across the country
celebrated the season of giving by donating 2,678 decorated holiday trees to United Way.
United Way volunteers will distributed the trees-worth an estimated $500,000-to families in need and partners such as shelters, community centers and childcare programs. This is the 20th consecutive year for the holiday partnership.
