A Message from President & CEO
Brian Hercules | |
Once again the holiday season is upon us. Not sure if the stress I am feeling is from over eating during Thanksgiving or the search for that perfect gift for my wife. What I do know is this season, for me and my family, is a time to reflect on how truly blessed we are. This year, we have faced natural disaster in the form of a flood, and the economy, while rebounding, has been slower than we wished. Thus, the need for community help is still on the rise.
As we enter into this season, our wish for you and your family is all the peace and joy the season brings. Our challenge is to not forget those that are struggling. Many people in our community will not have the comfort of a home, food, and gift giving this year. For some, this will be the first time in this position due to job loss. You can help by supporting your United Way and the 44 partner agencies UWRCC supports. Our goal is $3 million, but this goal is more about providing services for those in need rather than simply fund raising.
The Daily News Journal has once again offered to us the "Over the Top" club. Once a week during the month of December, an ad will run listing those that have helped us push our goal "Over the Top." You can join us with an additional donation of $100 per person or $250 for a company. This is also a great way to honor or memorialize someone special.
We truly live in a giving community and when we all do a little we can accomplish great things. Over this past year, we have witnessed some ordinary people making an extraordinary difference in our community. This is the true meaning of Live United!
On behalf of your United Way Board and Staff, we wish you and your families a blessed Holiday and a Happy New Year!

LiveUnited MTSU
Two students, Ashley Diffenderfer and Katie Kelley, from LiveUnited MTSU posed with Lightning at the MTSU football game against Florida Atlantic on Saturday, November 27. The group is finishing up its first semester as a student organization on Middle Tennessee State University's campus. LiveUnited MTSU will conclude the semester with a Christmas Party at STARS, a United Way partner agency. UWRCC is excited to have the organization's presence on campus at MTSU and hopes to strengthen awareness of Untied Way through the organization. For any questions concerning LiveUnited MTSU, please contact the organization's president at ashleydiffenderfer@gmail.com.
