We are in the height of the "lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer" but there is nothing lazy about August!
The A.L.S. Family Charitable Foundation has runners gearing up to run the 38th Annual CIGNA Falmouth Road Race and bikers preparing for a Motorcycle Run in memory of Danny Perry (both on August 15th). There is also a "Bachelor Party" for A.L.S. being hosted by ABC's The Bachelorette runner-up Chris Lambton and WCOD's Dan & Stephanie (August 13th)...all within the next two weeks!

August 13: "Bachelor Party" for A.L.S.
|
Chris Lambton, finalist from "The Bachelorette" | Chris Lambton, runner-up from ABC's The Bachelorette has teamed up with WCOD's Dan & Stephanie to raise funds for the Foundation!
Chris, of Dennis, MA, lost his mother to A.L.S. and has offered his efforts to help Dan & Stephanie with their fundraising for our CIGNA Falmouth Road Race team.
The three will be hosting a "Bachelor Party" at Trader Ed's (Hyannis, MA) on Friday August 13th from 6-8 pm.
Cost is a suggested $10 donation and appetizers will be courtesy of Trader Ed's with musical entertainment provided by Mike Hennessey. A Raffle prize will be donated by WCOD and all proceeds will benefit the A.L.S. Family Charitable Foundation.

Watch Our Public Service Announcement! | | A special thanks to Scott Cody of Twin Bridge Productions has generously donated his time and talent to produce a public service announcement for the Foundation! Scott has been a member of our "Family" since he lost his father to A.L.S. in 2002.

Aug 15: Motorcycle Run for A.L.S. | |
 Join us for a motorcycle run on Sunday, August 15th from Knuckleheads Bar (85 MacArthur Drive, New Bedford) to the Buzzards Bay Recreation Area (Main Street, Buzzards Bay) for a ceremony in memory of the fifteenth anniversary of Danny Perry's passing (March 2, 1929 - March 22, 1995) and then back to Knuckleheads for entertainment.
Registration is from 9-10:30 a.m. and the run begins promptly at
11 a.m.
Entertainment will include a live musical performance by "Batteries Not Included," Chinese Auction, 50/50 Raffle and food for purchase.
Not a biker? Join us for the party at Knuckleheads! Cost to attend is just $10 and all proceeds benefit the A.L.S. Family Charitable Foundation.
The event is being organized by Danny Perry's daughter, Jacqueline Tome, to commemorate the 15th Anniversary of his passing. A father of five and loving husband to Pat, Danny Perry was a beloved member of the New Bedford community and his memory lives on in the lives of those he touched. The Perry family is raising money for A.L.S. patients and their families going through the same battle they faced in hopes of making the journey a little easier than the one they had.

The CIGNA Falmouth Road Race is Nipping at Our Heels! | |
 We have just over one week until the 38th Annual CIGNA Falmouth Road Race takes place with 10,000 runners participating. The race will be held on August 15th beginning in Woods Hole and spanning 7 miles to Falmouth Heights.
As you may have heard, we are lucky to welcome Dan & Stephanie from WCOD's Morning Show to run as a part of our team! Who do you think will finish first -- Dan or Stephanie? Be a part of this friendly competition and click here to make a donation to the runner you think will win!
 More Additions to Our Team: One of our runners, Jenn Hull, has created a way to enable A.L.S. patients to run the race in spirit. She will be honoring those who have battled A.L.S. by wearing ribbons with the names of those touched by the disease.
