COE moves up in U.S. News & World Report rankings The College of Education at Georgia State University continues its trend of moving up in U.S.News & World Report's list of the best schools of education in the nation, ranking No. 61 in the news magazine's "Best Graduate Schools, 2013 edition." U.S. News collected data from 238 schools across the country and calculated the rankings based on how administrators rated each institution, student selectivity for doctoral students matriculating in fall 2011, doctoral student to faculty member ratios, faculty accolades, research expenditures and other measures. The COE moved up three spots from No. 64 in 2012 to No. 61 in 2013, putting the college among peers such as the Universities of Missouri and Cincinnati; the three University of California campuses at Davis, Santa Barbara and Riverside; North Carolina State University; Fordham University; and the University of Arizona. "I am pleased that the continuing improvement in our national ranking is representative of the ever-higher achievements of our faculty, students and staff," COE Dean Randy Kamphaus said. "Our ranking at 61 places us in the company of some of the finest research universities in the nation. While we are gratified by the recognition that we are among the top quartile of research university colleges of education, we remain committed to continuous improvement."
