Honoring Our Graduates

Sandra Hofmann at Fall Convocation 2011After completing their exams, turning in final projects and portfolios and finishing up their field experiences, College of Education students put their pencils down and celebrated their years of hard work at the COE's Fall Convocation Ceremony.

The ceremony, which was held Dec. 13, 2011, at the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel, gave faculty, staff, friends and family an opportunity to honor graduating students and recognize their academic achievements.

Sandra Hofmann, the COE's 2011 Distinguished Alumnus recipient, served as the guest speaker for the event.  She commended students for their dedication to pursuing careers in education and spoke about how her time at Georgia State University shaped her career.

"As educators, we're all responsible for taking people from where they are to where they can be," she said. "Martin Luther King reminds us that intelligence and character are the goals of education. Your diploma reflects a level of intelligence achieved, but it's your character that will create your legacy of greatness."
