Meet Our New Faculty Dr. Bridget Dever has been appointed an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Policy Studies.
She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2002 and her master's degree from Marywood University in 2004. She earned her doctorate in education and psychology from the University of Michigan in 2009.
Prior to joining the faculty, Dever completed her post-doctorate work in the College of Education, working with Dr. Randy Kamphaus to study behavioral and emotional screenings in schools in Los Angeles, Calif. Her research focuses on student motivation, screening for emotional and behavioral risks, measurement equivalence across under-represented student groups, and educational risk and resilience.
"I love working in the College of Education and I'm glad I get to continue here," Dever said. "I'm really looking forward to starting my own research agenda and teaching in the fall. I'd like to do a research project on student motivation and behavior risks, and how they relate to each other."
The College of Education's faculty reflect Georgia State University's tradition of putting practical experience, academic excellence and professional achievement at the head of the class. Drawn from across the country and around the world, our faculty come to the university in part for Atlanta's proximity to a wide range of teaching, learning and research resources -- along with service opportunities -- and they often work in partnership with local schools and agencies for the benefit of the community and to enhance their students' experience.

Why I give to the COE...
Dr. Peggy Mayfield
Alumnus and Donor
(M.Ed. '71, Ed.S. '75, Ph.D. '78)
"I give to GSU because the excellent academic training and teaching I received in the COE vocational rehabilitation department contributed to my successful career as a licensed psychologist and ordained minister. The keen mental ability and generous commitment of the professors made the training team an excellent center for intellectual growth of human nature and the workings of the human mind. Professors trained students to establish life objectives and utilize their feelings to be helpful to those that needed training, psychological assessment and opportunities to be in counseling groups throughout the Southeast."
