Meet Our New Faculty
Dr. Hongli Li has been appointed an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Policy Studies.
She received her bachelor's degree from Xi'an Jiaotong University in 1998 and her master's degree from Dongbei University of Finance and Economics in 2001. She received a master's degree in teaching English as a second language from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2007 and her doctoral degree in educational psychology from the Pennsylvania State University in 2011.
Prior to coming to Georgia State University, Li taught English in both China and the United States for six years. Her research focuses on applied measurement and quantitative methods in education. She is especially interested in cognitive diagnostic modeling, the assessment of English language learners and language assessment.
"I am particularly interested in how to use testing to inform teaching and learning," Li said. "Being close to such a diversified student population in Atlanta will surely inspire my professional growth and also make my research more meaningful. I am looking forward to working with faculty and students in the College of Education to explore issues in measurement and education."
The College of Education's faculty reflect Georgia State University's tradition of putting practical experience, academic excellence and professional achievement at the head of the class. Drawn from across the country and around the world, our faculty come to the university in part for Atlanta's proximity to a wide range of teaching, learning and research resources -- along with service opportunities -- and they often work in partnership with local schools and agencies for the benefit of the community and to enhance their students' experience.
