Letter from the President
Message from the President - 4th Quarter 2009 Happy Holidays 31st Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade - Saturday,
March 13th, 2010 As the holidays approach let me wish all our members and area GAABA merchants the very best this special season. As we see the economy rebounding we can look forward to the future and a prosperous News Year. GAABA is pleased to be sponsoring our 31st annual St Patrick's Day Parade which has become a signature event for the city of Dallas and all of North Texas. It's the biggest and best Parade in the North Texas area and creates tremendous exposure for our business community. It's now time to start making plans for the parade next March, our biggest event of the year. The parade is scheduled for Saturday, March 13, 2010, the weekend before St Patrick's Day and we anticipate another crowd of 100,000. It is important to get your float application and fees in early because as the parade grows each year it requires more time to process the entries and assign positions. A copy of the 2009 Float Application is on or website at www.greenvilleave.org. The float fees have increased this year to $400 for members and non-profits and $1,000 for non-members because of a substantial increase in expenses to produce the Parade. GAABA members receive a major discount on the entries, so those of you who have not joined GAABA do so now and save more than your annual membership fee on your St. Patrick's Day Parade Floatentry. The annual GAABA membership for most businesses is just $150 annually and the discount on the St. Patrick's Day Parade registration is worth more than the annual dues. Please check our website at www.greenvilleave.org for registration details. Your association will be providing 10 Christmas dinners to needy families this year through the Lady of Guadalupe Church on Ross Avenue. I plan on working with a Greenville area grocer to help GAABA with this project. Your Board has decided to make this an annual project to help make the holiday season a happier time for those in need. Also, I'm pleased to announce the addition to two outstanding business professionals to our Board; Donnell Toler, Vice president of Emergency Ice, Inc and Eric Hill, Attorney with the Law Offices of Eric C. Hill. You can read more about them in our next newsletter and on line at www.greenvilleave.org. We appreciate your continued partnership in our association. Have a very happy holiday season and a prosperous 2010. Sincerely, Jorge Levy Desperados Mexican Restaurant President - 214-363-1850 GAABA Board of Directors: Angela Morris, Branch Manager, Branch Banking & Trust (BB&T).
