Have you filled out our fundraising SURVEY yet?!
| We sent out a survey last week via email to all parent asking for feedback regarding our fundraising efforts this year. As you know, we had an ambitious goal this year to raise funds for our 2 play structures, and therefore had quite a few initiatives. We don't necessarily need to do as much fundraising next year, and we're looking for feedback from you about what you liked and didn't like. It will take less than 5 minutes of your time and we'd really appreciate it!
Click HERE for the survey - and THANKS!

Custodial staff plan to fix and clean all lighting fixtures and clean ceiling ledges, rafters, etc. The library will have to be completely boxed, packed and removed, incl. computers, all shelves, my office, etc. This will done throughout June as books are returned at the end of year. | Parents Reaching Out (PRO) Grant for NEXT YEAR | |
CVES Council has applied for the PRO Grant in hopes of continuing to holding our *Castor Connections* information sessions for our parents next year.
We believe our Castor Connections series is an important way to enhance parent engagement in support of improved student achievement and well-being. Because we are a rural school serving a large geographic catchment, our students are 100% bussed and so there doesn't always feel like there's a strong connection between parents and school. We see our Castor Connections sessions as an opportunity for parents to come to the school to both build that connection and to also receive valuable information on how to support their child's learning.

| Think Recycle Program | |
This environmental fundraising program supports a local grandmother's group, "Grandmas Aiding Grandmas for Africa". We are collecting used cell phones, digital cameras, ink cartridges in a Think Recycle collection box near the milk fridge in the front foyer of the school. These items are completely recycled and will not end up in a landfill.
This project helps our environment and raises funds for the remarkably resilient African grandmothers who are raising their orphaned grandchildren as a result of the AIDS epidemic. Our grandmothers' group earns funds for each item collected which will then go directly to support grassroots projects in sub Saharan Africa such as food, medical care, adequate housing, school fees and uniforms, HIV awareness and bereavement counseling. Please support this program and enjoy the wonderful feeling of being able to help Grandmas and their grandchildren in Africa and our environment. For more information visit www.thinkrecycle.com.

Update from the Grade 7 & 8 Ambassadors
| |
Five Days for Freedom was a success! During the five days, we raised awareness for people who want to be freed from exploitation, disease, thirst and poverty. We also fundraised for our Free the Children Adopt A Village: Alternative Income Project in Sierra Leone. We were able to raise $1,145 through various events held throughout the week, and we collected 6 boxes of canned food donations for the Ottawa Food Bank.
Castor Valley's ambassadors will be having a garage sale to raise funds for our Free the Children Adopt A Village: Alternative Income Project in Sierra Leone. It will be held June 4th from 9am-12pm and take place at 6503 Harvest Grove Dr in Greely West. Rain or shine! Hope to see you there!
