From Our Principal...
| |
Can it be that we may make it through the winter with no snow days?? Although there is something special about a snow day, with this being a short summer, I believe we will be glad in June! If you have not checked out the calendar for the 2012-2013 school year, it is posted on the district's website. Our first day of school will be August 15.
Kindergarten registration for the 2012-2013 school year will be March 14 from 1:30 - 2:30pm. If you know of a youngster who will be 5 by July 31, 2012 please send them our way. Thank you for your efforts in getting the word out for us!
On March 8 & 9, we will be hosting an IB team who will conduct our site visit evaluation. This is apart of IB's evaluation process. A year-long self study was completed last November. We value the input of the IB evaluation team and will share the results later on this school year. Thank you to everyone who took the parent survey and those who are helping teachers get their rooms ready for the visit.
The Big Dig may be over, but we have only just begun! Thank you to all the families who came out and volunteered for the Big Dig. If you are interested in volunteering in the garden or being on the Green Team, please contact Debbie Fisher, dfisher@spsmail.org. You do not have to have a green thumb or be a master gardener. We would love to have you come learn with us.
Please note that standardized testing for grades 2-5 will begin the week of April 2. More information will be coming home for the testing time of each grade level. Please help your student by ensuring they get good nights sleep, eat a good breakfast, and arrive at school on time. Please avoid scheduling appointments in the morning during our testing window.
Finally, if you have not picked up your password for the Home Access Center, JJ still has them available in the office. All you need to do is come in with your driver's license and sign that you have received your information.
Have a great Spring Break!

From Our PTA President...
| |
Dear friends and families of Field,
We have some bittersweet news to report from the PTA. We bid a fond farewell to our treasurer, Mike Harders. He will be relocating to Georgia in April. We will miss him.Mike has done an excellent job as our treasurer for almost two years. The Field community will be losing great friends when the Harders family moves.
But to balance this out, our nominating committee has done a great job and recently provided an outstanding slate of names for the 2012-2013 PTA Executive Board!
One last note - two awesome examples of the Field Community are, first, the last two events at Skateport.January's session had 181 skaters and February's session had 180 skaters. The second example was the HUGE turnout for the Big Dig. WOW!
Have a great March, St Pat's and Spring Break!

We will have an informal Q & A about what to expect in middle school. This is not just for parents of 5th graders... it is never to early to begin preparing yourself for your child's teenage years.

THE BIG DIG - A HUGE SUCCESS! THANK YOU!
|
Thank you to all of the over 250 students, parents, teachers, community members and BIG DIG staff. We had an incredible day of sunshine and hard work that resulted in five new raised beds, four cleaned and prepared existing beds, the construction of a garden storage building and three compost bins plus the removal of an incredible amount of Johnson Grass! This was a fantastic effort by all. We invite everyone to drop by and see the garden!
If you are interested in volunteering to assist the teachers, students and Big Dig instructor learning in the garden, please email Debbie Fisher at dfisher@spsmail.org. NO GARDEN EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!
