From Our Principal...
|
I hope all of you are doing well amidst the hustle and bustle of this time of year! It is amazing that during this time we continue to see strong volunteer support and participation in school activities! We appreciate the priority you have placed on your student's education.
Our next Site Council meeting is on Monday, December 5, at 4pm. Our main business will be to continue the work on the Volunteer Essential Agreements that were started last year. Anyone is welcome to join us. You do not have to have attended previous Site Council meetings to be involved.
May your family create many new memories this holiday season!
Dr. Bagwell, Principal Eugene Field Elementary |

From Our PTA President...
| |
Thanks to everyone for making our Fall Campaign a success! You got us almost 85% toward our goal. Because of your help, many important programs that support our children will continue to provide that support.
There will be other opportunities the rest of the year to support the school, the PTA, and its programs. Since it's holiday season, I wanted to offer thanks to everyone who has provided support to the Field family. This includes teachers, students, staff, parents, and others who are part of the Field family. All of you are important to the success of our school.
I especially want to thank those who day in and day out are providing that support. Each day, the teachers make a connection with a student that is life changing. Each day, someone on the staff provides support to the learning process that is invaluable. Each day, students amaze with what they are doing and learning. Each day, parents, grandparents, and other family members are there - nourishing the minds, spirits, and bodies of our students. Each day, others outside this list are providing support to our family. Thanks to all for making Field Elementary a "go-to" school. I want to single out the "daily" volunteers for thanks. I am not one of them. They are the folks who are in the school everyday providing support and encouragement. They help in the classrooms, the lunchroom, and other important areas. They are the backbone of the volunteer program at Field.
Thank you!
Bill Enos

Fall Fundraising Campaign UPDATE
| |
Thanks to everyone for great participation during our Fall Fundraising Campaign. Our goal was to net $7,000 and we came very close.
Here are the results:
Entertainment Books: Sold 100 books; profit of $1,500
Write a Check Campaign: $4,465
Total Net Profit: $5,965
In order to meet our budget, we will need to raise $1,035 more during this school year.
If you did not get a chance to participate, you may still donate any time. Simply write a check to Field PTA.
Although we did not have any class reach 100% participation, the following classes had the highest participation and will earn a special reward (as determined by teacher):
Mrs. Brown 83%
Ms. Houston 64%
Prizes for the Entertainment Books will be distributed when they arrive from the company.
Thanks again for a great campaign! Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Future Falcons
|
If you would like your child to visit Glendale High School as part of its Future Falcons program, please contact JJ Dixon at the Field front office, 523-4800. The next visit is scheduled for Dec. 16.
Parents and children enjoy touring the school together while meeting with both students and faculty. It's very exciting for the younger students to see the inner workings of the high school many of them will someday attend! Please note: Your child will not be recorded as "absent" from school during his/her Glendale tour.

Days of Sharing 2011, Week One, Nov. 14 - 18
|
We will collect Wish List items for our adopted families for DOS during the week of December 5-8! The classroom wish lists were sent home before Thanksgiving. Please let me know if you did not get a copy of your classroom list, and I will be happy to get one to you. We will have volunteers in the car line each morning to accept donations! You do not need to leave your car, simply let us know you have a donation and we will take it for you right there! We will also have a collection box inside the entry. Thanks to all who have given gifts and monetary donations! If you would like to make a monetary donation, please make checks to Field PTA, and send attention to Ann Howard. Gift card donations are also very appreciated, especially to any shoe store, Target and Wal-Mart. We have Wishing Stars in the entry of the school! These stars list items needed for Days of Sharing, and all cost $10 or less. If you would like to purchase one of the items on the stars, simply take that star with you to use as a reminder when you shop. Put the item in the wishing star basket in the school entry at your convenience. Wednesday, December 7, is Dollar Day! If you would like to contribute a dollar on this day, all donations will be used to purchase gifts for Days of Sharing. Food Drive On Saturday, December 10, the Cub Scouts from Field Elementary's Pack 214 will conduct a neighborhood food drive in the Field district. The food collected will benefit our adopted families, PTA's Backpack Program, and Ozarks Food Harvest. If a collection bag shows up on your doorstep, please consider donating! The Pack will spend two Saturday mornings working on behalf of Days of Sharing - dropping off grocery bags one Saturday morning (Dec. 3) and then picking up the filled bags the following week. Thank you to our Cub Scouts, their leaders, and parents for providing such a generous service to our community! As you can see, there are many ways to participate in Days of Sharing! Please consider if you can help by purchasing a gift from your child's classroom list, giving a monetary gift/gift card, purchasing an item on the Wishing Stars, bringing a dollar on Dollar Day, or supporting the food drive. If you can help in any of these areas, it would be so very appreciated. Please contact me with any questions at bah2004@live.com or 868-8123. Much thanks!

Thank You!
|
Thank you to all the volunteers who worked in the car line collecting donations, the Kidz Council students for making and distributing posters and signs to help promote DOS, the Girl Scouts and their parents for helping in the car line and stapling bags for the food drive, the Boy Scouts and their parents for stapling bags and hosting the December food drive, the volunteers working to secure items needed for family baskets, for our awesome new DOS banner, for our Wishing Stars window, for getting more grocery bags and boxes than we ever thought possible, for the teachers and staff at Field for handing out letters and fliers and offering their amazing support as they always do each year, and to all the families who have given so generously to support DOS! There are so many people to thank; it takes many hands to make Days of Sharing successful! I appreciate each and every effort and donation made for DOS. Your support of Days of Sharing is just one example of how the Field family shines in our community!

Volunteer at Field Elementary - Policies and Information |
Our volunteer program consists of community members, parents, grandparents, local businesses and organizations who acknowledge the importance between community involvement and education. Our volunteers work in a variety of capacities, both inside and
outside the classroom from mentoring or tutoring a child to assisting in a school's office or cafeteria. In order to become a registered volunteer, and keep your volunteer status current, volunteers must complete and return a Volunteer Registration/Background Check Form. This form may be obtained by clicking the SPS link below, in the Community Relations Office, or in the main office of our schools. Anyone volunteering directly with children at our school must perform the registration and background check. The background check costs $17.50; please make checks out to Springfield Public Schools. If you already have a background check completed due to your work or community board service, please provide the school secretary with a copy. |
